Red Sox sign Wells to two-year deal
ANAHEIM -- While most of New England was sleeping Friday night, Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein worked late into the night 3,000 miles away. Epstein completed the first day of the Winter Meetings by agreeing to terms on a two-year contract with free agent left-hander David Wells.

Though the club hasn't officially announced the deal yet, club spokesman Peter Chase informally spread the news to fans at Fenway Park, who were gathered for the club's annual "Christmas at Fenway" event, on Saturday morning.

3. He's a lunatic..
good pitcher when he is on, but when he was with the Yankees, he didn't always tell them when his various problems were kicking in.
He definitely is not from the Roger Clemens school of how to keep a 40+ y.old pitcher's body in shape!

4. Whadaya mean?
Beer an pizza ain't a work out? Dem cases is heavy!

He's got a few good games left and I think he will feel right at home in the Sox's club house. With Petey gone the line up's looking a lot thinner. (well not in Wells case :P but you know what I mean.)

5. The funniest thing I recall abt Wells (other than the fork incident...
in which either he or a fan forked the other while getting into a 'beef' at a late night diner in NYC) was during the (I think) 2003 playoff first round. The Yankees were in Minnesota, and as FOX panned around the stadium, they had the camera on a woman with black hair down to her waist. One announcer said 'That's Mrs. David Wells'. A beat later, the other one said 'he's married?!?'. It was even mentioned on a NY show the next day. I don't think anyone knew it.

Beer worked for the Babe! No argument about that!
