Jerry Rice elected to Hall of Fame..

Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little and John Randle were selected Saturday as the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2010.

As the greatest receiver in NFL history, there was never any doubt.

1. He sucked.
:hide:

Actually, I'm surprised they even had to vote. Talk about a gimme.

2. According to the article
the Hall of Fame Selection Committee hardly even discussed Rice and Smith...it was the other five's selections they had to toil some over..

3. The discussion went this way.
"So, Jerry Rice is in, right?"

...and the rest agreed. :)

7. Oh Horseshit...
Jim Brown, Gayle Sayers, Barry Sanders... There are so many athletes that are right there with him.

8. I'd take Rice over any of those guys.

He's the only NFL player I can think of who is universally accepted as the best ever at his position.

9. You'd take Rice over Jim Brown?
Or Sanders?

Just because he's the best receiver ever doesn't mean he's the best athlete ever... Shit---I'd take Seabisquit over Jerry.

Now with that said--- I love Jerry Rice... He was certainly the best receiver of my generation.

10. In a heartbeat.

Rice was the ultimate playmaker. Being the only man to score 200 TD's speaks for itself. Randy Moss is the only other player on the horizon with a prayer of reaching that mark, and he's still over 50 away.

5. He was the best I ever saw with his hands and keeping his feet inbounds
when going up for a pass. We won't mention the time he fumbled the ball out of the end zone right before he broke the plane with no one any where near him. No one's perfect.

I just saw something about Rice picking the Saints to win tomorrow. That settles it. A Hall of Famer can't be wrong, right?

6. Talent aside, he is also a mensch
At least it appears so to this outsider.

Congratulations Jerry. And to all the other inductees as well.

11. And what, everyone knew this since about the year 2000, right?
Not a surprise, and certainly well, well deserved.
