They should win the Gold with the amazing team they have (their roster is a who's who of NHL all stars), but they've struggled in the Olympics, even with NHL players in the mix. If they don't win, look for Russia or Sweden to take the Gold, as both teams are deep and solid. My dark horse team is the Czechs, though the US team is favored above them. The US team is hungry and young and should be fun, and any medal would be good for them considering the opposition they'll be facing. Hell, even Slovakia will put a decent team on the ice. No gimmes among any of these teams.
My picks go...
Canada - Gold Sweden - Silver Russia - Bronze

It's not Lake Placid, 1980. But it is the best in the world.

5. It should be lots of fun. |

You have the best players in the world playing for their home country.
After this year the NHL will no longer let it's players participate in the Olympics, so another Lake Placed could happen again some day. I love seeing the NHL players play for their own country, but what made '80 so special was a bunch of amateurs beating a pro squad in the Russians (and one Hell of a pro-squad at that). After this it's back to collegiate and junior players for the Olympics.

10. Lacelles Brown, the Jamaican-turned-Canadian, actually DID win |
|
a silver in the two-man competition in Torino in 2006! He's pushing for Lyndon Rush this year, and will have a real shot at another medal in this year's two-man competition as well.
