What, Nobody Wants To Talk NBA Playoffs Anymore? |
|
You'd think on the Sports forum there'd be quite a few NBA playoff threads going.
But, nada.
Shaq is hurting, but Miami looks like they'll be able to fend off New Jersey (sigh).
Duncan is hurting, and it looks like San Antonio is in MAJOR trouble in that series.
The Suns score 40 points in the first quarter of their game against Memphis.
Boston stomps Indy.
Chicago has the second-coming of Vinnie Johnson/Michael Jordan and rolls to their first playoff win since Clinton was president.
Mike Bibby implodes and the Pistons keep rolling along towards another East Conference finals appearance.
There's a whole lot of stuff going on folks. Get with the program!

Who needs Shaq? All we need is Dwayne to stop some Nets! Woooo!

2. I'd expect a different turnout for game 2 |

Shaq can't hide the fact that he's practically a statue now. Those few opening minutes nonwithstanding.
Wade is a freak of nature, but if you can limit his touches and make Damon Jones beat you again (which I doubt he can do two games in a row) then the Nets will have a shot.
Jason Kidd will come back with a vengence. Richard Jefferson will be better now that he's gotten some game action under his belt. Vince Carter will probable score more than 3 points in the first quarter.
Outside of a 20-3 run between the second and third quarters, the Nets played the Heat straight up.
This series is far from over.

Last year, when the Nets played the Pistons in game one of their series, the Pistons held them to the second lowest point total in NBA playoff history - 56 points.
The Nets came back and won three of the next four games. All with Jason Kidd having a fractured right knee.
This team will NOT go down without a fight.

a few games. I like basketball second to boxing; the past week there was a heck of a lot of boxing on. (There are even fewer people interested in boxing than basketball, however!) I like New York teams in most sports, but not in the sense of a "favorite." So I enjoy ever game I watch, no matter what the outcome. The only thing I'm not happy about is the number of injuries suffered by players on the various teams you noted. I hate to see injuries be a deciding role in any sport.

40 games in 40 nights baby.
Denver's going to get cocky, and the Spurs will remain cool and still win the series.
Wasn't the Seattle/Sac game 1 great?
And the Phoenix/Memphis guys were running so much I was out of breath just watching them! :D
CORRECTION: I missed the 76ers/Detroit game 1, and I didn't care about Chicago/Washington AT ALL.
My team's not in, and they won't make the playoffs again for a long time. But every time they mention a good PG, they have to compare numbers to the GREATEST PURE POINT GUARD WHO EVERY PLAYED THE GAME.
Your boy Jason Kidd wishes he'll have the career numbers of John Stockton. But Stock's records will never be broken -- by Kidd or by anyone else.

The other Eastern Division teams should be very wary of the "Baby Bulls". Ben Gordon was almost superhuman yesterday and the Wizards don't have an answer for him. And Skiles is a helluva coach as well. Are they good enough to win it all? Probably not, especially with Tyson Chandler out, but this is a true TEAM effort and they know how to win now.

Now up 2-0 on Dallas. McGrady and Yao are sensational, and could be a new and improved "Kobe and Shaq." They have the best chemistry I've seen in a Rocket team since the second title ten years ago. They're incredible to watch.
The NBA Playoffs are like going on vacation from this "Political World" of ours, especially with my team playing so well.

All the way. They're healthy and hungry and ready to go. A few jitters in the first quarter on Saturday but those were quickly shaken and the Pistons cruised the rest of the game. Hoping there is no letdown tonight...
Just saw that Rick Mahorn has been named an assistant coach of the Detroit Shock -- Laimbeer and Mahorn back together again. Should be an interesting season.
Go Pistons!
