Terry Bradshaw: What's wrong with him: or, is he okay? |
|
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 02:05 AM by goodbody
Terry Bradshaw has increasingly come across as, well --a birdbrain. I now watch in horror whenever he is a guest on a talkshow as he demonstrates behavior that is so unsavory, I can't imagine that he is not aware of his actions. His crudeness is beyond description. He was on Jay Leno this last Friday, and bless him -- he still makes lots of public appearances, although it seems to escape him that he is a pathetic butt of the host's jokes. He doesn't seem to be reliable mentally or in any other way.
For those in-the-know: has he deteriorated? Has he been so injured that his mental faculties have deteriorated? He's disgusting. I try to like him, but now I'm just feeling sorry for him. Has his brain been sloshed in his cranium one too many times to function properly?
Any ideas? God help him.

1. I don't know if he has deteriorated, but he has always been a birdbrain... |
|
I used to live down the street from his family and went to school with his younger brother... Part of his goofiness is his schtick, but it is certainly possible it is no longer an act....I haven't seen him on anything in a couple of years or so.
BTW, as ironies would have it, Bradshaw's oldest brother was likely the most talented football player in the family, but his career was halted when he broke his back. Not sure what became of the youngest brother, but he didn't strike me as too athletic!

but I really don't remember his personality all that much when he was playing ball. Now, he's talking about being a loser with women and he just seems really out of it, but I don't know if it's more than usual. He needs charm school or something.

2. "He couldn't spell 'cat' if you spotted him the C and the T" |
|
Didn't Laurence Taylor say that about Bradshaw years ago?
While Bradshaw is obviously not a mental heavyweight, I always got the impression that he played up his "yokel-ness" I always found it sort of endearing, but I haven't seen him in a few years.

> a birdbrain
Yes, a birdbrain is just the type of person we want with dangerous weapons.

6. He's a manic depressive |
|
And has been pretty upfront about his struggle with it. I haven't seen him on anything other than the pre-game show but I know he's talked about the problem openly on other programs too.
He is kind of a nitwit but I still laugh when I think about him and James Brown in that Miller Lite commercial when they were pushing their blow-up chair and Bradshaw kept making rude noises with the air valve on his and laughing. Also, that great commercial with Dick Butkus -- "Ah, yes, I remember it well."

7. That about explains it! |
|
I've never seen him talk about manic depression, so that explains a lot of his extreme behaviors and comments. Now I'll look at him in a different light. I just couldn't remember if he was quite the same way years ago, but what you're saying makes a lot of sense when trying to explain him now.
I remember him as being pretty funny, too. Goofy and all, but not quite as "out there" as he seems to be now.
