New York Yankees are back in Boston to begin defending their World Series title
The Rivalry is The Rivalry, always baseball’s most glamorous matchup, again judged sexy enough nationally to kick off the season tonight on ESPN2. Yet it feels like a lifetime since the insanity of 2003 and ’04, when the Yankees and Red Sox made The Rivalry feel as bloody as a Holy War.

Maybe it will never feel quite like that again either. Let’s face it, the Sox haven’t been quite so hate-able since the likes of Pedro Martinez, Manny Ramirez and Curt Schilling left the stage.

And for all the anti-Yankees chanting that goes on at Fenway Park, the old ballpark hasn’t felt nearly as hostile since the home team broke the Curse of the Bambino and won a couple of championships.

But a new chapter dawns now, as the freshly-crowned Yankees have re-established supremacy in The Rivalry for the first time since the Sox pulled off their historic comeback in the 2004 ALCS and went on to win the World Series.

1. Yeah ...lets BUY another championship..
about the only thing the Yankees have "re-established" is to remind people just how screwed up MLB is..

When the same big market teams literally BUY themselves into the playoffs year after year after year...there's something wrong with the sport.

If I didn't love the Giants, I believe I would have turned my back on Selig and this crap long ago..

2. I'm in 100% agreement with you, Upton. Scary isn't it.
Regardless of the stat's of what was my favourite team, the odds are completely stacked for a handful of teams.

Thanks, $elig.
