Is Harold Baines hall of fame worthly?
I dont know if he is or not but I always liked him, seemed like a classy guy, and one of the best DHs I saw, granted I only saw him play when he was in his later years with the Orioles mostly.

2. I think he was a pretty good player, but falls just a little short ...
of being one of the "great" players. You can look at his complete stats here:

It's possible that he could be voted in, some of the comparison players at the bottom of his stat sheet were, but I think it's a long shot.

4. I'd have to say no
Very good but not great, as others have said.

6. Probably not.
For example, I have a hard time seeing Edgar Martinez in the HOF, and I'd have to give him the nod over Baines, if I had any say about it.

7. Actually I'd say Edgar's got a good shot
He and Baines are two of the best DHs Ive ever seen play the game.

8. Indeed, but I suspect it's the DH role that will hurt them...
with enough voters to keep 'em on the outskirts. I don't necessarily think it should, as it is a defined position and role, regardless of what one thinks of it in general.

9. I'm assuming when you say "position..."
...you mean "in the batting order." Since, you know, they're not ever actually on the FIELD, playing a position.

(Sez the stickler whose views on the DH are showing.)
