To the sports forumites

Occasionally in in the last several weeks, some one inquires where the Gloat-Free Baseball scores have gone, not to mention the weekly chess reports.

I apologize for being remiss in these matters. As some of you know, I am a mental patient. Really. No kidding. I have a hell of a case of major depression and, four years ago, found myself talking to dead relatives. This is disconcerting for some one who does not believe in ghosts. At that time I was nearly hospitalized. A psychologist for mobile crisis interviewed me in the waiting room and decided I wasn't quite suicidal enough to be hospitalized. The real truth is that the reason I didn't kill myself is that I was too depressed to bother. I was angry at the world and afraid of it at the same time.

Anyway, after four years of plodding along on SSRIs, taking care of feral cats (which was the best thing I did for myself) and passing time writing the JRCR and providing you fine folks with daily baseball scores and pseudo-baseball scores of games where the designated hitter was used, my life has recently turned a corner and I find myself interested in reviving a social life and even a sex life (I've been celibate during this period).

In my high school year book, I told my class mates that my future plans were to "read, write and make love." So, forty years later, I am going to take the summer off and do exactly that. That leaves me with little time for chess or baseball.

I will make a decision around Labor Day whether or not I will return to these activities or pursue something else.

I would like to thank those of you who expressed appreciation of my efforts. Your support was always gratifying.
