3. Geez, do you have to say that? |
|
"...only the Mariners"?
That hurts, especially since it's true (as of late).
By the way, do you notice how much cheering there is for Boston at the Mariners stadium? hmmmmm I do have two friends in from Boston who are there but I don't think they make that much noise.

my sister lives out there and her husband (who I like) is a big Mariners fan so I have a soft spot for them, but they ain't so good this year, though Ichiro is still pretty freaking amazing.

Not that it's important (well, at least for baseball discussions). Ichiro is amazing, you are right. It looks like we may have lost our new catcher tonight if he really did rip his hamstring.
But still, for the Mariners, it's pitching pitching pitching.
I think the Mariners treated Randy Johnson horribly and we probably brought a long-term hex on ourselves by making him feel so unwelcome that he demanded to be traded. And what did we get for him? Freddy Garcia, who we also treated badly and who is now dynamite for the Chicago White Sox.
We reap what we sow.
*sigh*

:P That doesn't sound much better does it? My assumption (completely unconscious) speaks to the power of ingrained linguistic convention doesn't it? Bad Redneck Socialist, bad...:spank: It also points out how important and powerful language is.
And hey, you beat us today so I guess y'all can't suck that badly.

Wonderful crowd, with a lot of fun chants going back and forth between Sox and M's fans. Couldn't have asked for a better game. Although I think we got one on Sunday.
