Edgar Renteria, for nine years one of the Majors' best all-around and most underrated shortstops, has apparently agreed with the Red Sox on a four-year contract.

Renteria made the unofficial "announcement" himself, the Colombian telling reporters in his homeland, "They won the Series this year and I like to play on a winning team."

The four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner would now play on the team that swept him and the rest of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2004 World Series.

However, Renteria's premature comments caught Boston officials off guard.

WHAT THE HELL IS WALT JOCKETY AND THE CARDS DOING?????!!!!!!

The go to the WS and lose...meaning that the team was *almost* good enough..just needs a little tweaking...

and instead of improving the team..they don't resign their number one pitcher (Woody..goes to the Padres)..they don't resign the best catcher in either league (defensively and game calling/handling pitchers that is) Matheny, goes to Giants....they don't resign their second baseman..(Womack goes to Yankees) and now they don't resign the best shortstop in either league?

What the hell are they smoking?

(can you tell I am (to say the least) displeased with this development?
