Timberwolves try truth-telling to their fans |
|
(From the letter the team posted in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune) The time for talk is over
Okay, not quite. Right after this long-winded letter. Because we do have a lot of good things to talk about.
...In the off-season we added young, athletic wind players Wesley Johnson, Martell Webster and Lazar Hayward. They join Jonny Flynn, Corey Brewer and Wayne Ellington as guys who can get up and down the floo quickly and shoot the ball from the perimeter. We re-signed Darko Milicic and added Nikola Pekovic, giving us two more up-tempo big men to run with one of the best outlet passers in the game, Kevin Love. We took advantage of our cap room to acquire a potential star in Michael Beasley, who was the number one prospect in his high school class of 2007 and averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds in his one college season. And finally, we added Luke Ridnour, a push-the-pace player who becomes the team's elder statesman at the age of 29.
...So will we challenge for the NBA championship this year?
Not likely.more: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2010/09/minnesota-timberwolves-jonny-flynn-kevin-love-ricky-rubio/1

I think you might be the only one that cares or maybe you don't but the Seattle Storm swept the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA Finals. I seriously wish I could of watched but no longer have cable. :(

3. Yeah, sort of, I didn't really follow the finals because the Storm beat Phoenix |
|
and I like them because of Diana Taurasi. Did you know she's thinking of taking a year off from the WNBA because she's so tired? right after the WNBA season she goes to Turkey and plays in their natioanl league. She makes about $100,000 here, $500,000 there! I think that $100,000 makes her the highest paid WNBA player, too!

Mercury is my favorite team and they won it all last year. Only sports team I root for that has won a title in my lifetime. I don't really count it though. I didn't go running in the streets when they won it all. I was much more excited when the Cardinals defeated the Falcons in the Wild Card Round 2 years ago.
Big Taurasi fan here since her UConn days.

They are having a parade and rally tonight.
I'm still pissed that they allowed the Shock to be summarily sold off to Oklahoma (same as the Sonics) but at least my favorite player, Swin Cash, is in Seattle.
