Just had to do it. After an off season of crazy trades and shifts in balances of power, it should be interesting to see who emerges. Shaq to Miami. Boozer to Utah. McGrady to Houston. Odom to Lakers. It's gonna be nutty.
I have not tuned in too heavily yet but I did get to see (on TV) Iverson and the 76's swing through NY to lose too the Knicks but beat the Nets.
I was super imprEssed with 19 year old Knick rookie, TREVOR ARIZA, out of UCLA.
And even non b-ball fans have to love the comeback of Nets' ALONZO MOURNING (ZO)after kidney transplant surgery. He had 14 points, 12 rb and 3 blocked shots on Tues in a winning effort against Portland.
Don't forget, Net's star Richard Jefferson is a progressive Dem.!

Love our new rookie and I agree about Zo. What a great comeback. I have a soft spot for all former Georgetown centers. Hoping and praying for a good year for my guys.

18. Yikes, Nets sure stunk it up against Seattle. T. Thomas needs to step up. |
|
Wow on one play, RJ took it coast to coast, blew by his man to the hoop only to get fouled and make both -- he is a great combo of strength, touch and hustle. Don't know where his game went during the Olympics. That sucked. I read Kidd is close to practicing again. Why don't Nets play the rookie?

And YES, Alonzo Mourning is a beast. He's played 75 minutes in back-to-back games coming off a kidney transplant.
I haven't noticed much of a drop-off in his game at all. Its a shame the Nets had to let Kenyon Martin go because they'd have one hell of a scary team if they had a frotncourt of Jefferson, Martin and Mourning.

The Sonics are playing great against some good competition. Of course they always play well early in the season, but still I have more hope than I did during the offseason.

Gonna be a great game. San Antonio is clearly the class of the league this year (although we did have that stumble against a surprisingly strong Seattle team).
I'm pulling hard for Cleveland. LeBron is just a monster. An absolutely incredible young talent.
But watch for Manu Ginobili to have a real breakout this season. He's averaging over 20 points, and is way up there in steals and assists. The Spurs are going to be a new style team this year with the addition of Brent Barry, a real running team coupled with that stifling defense.

Utah Jazz play. I hate Utah but the Jazz look for real. Kirelenko and Boozer make a pretty nasty frontcourt. They look like the best team in the West so far.

Spurs are currently, in my biased opinion, the class of the west. They've taken a consistently great team and added Brent Barry.
Utah is off to a great start. And they could well be right with Minnesota at the end of the year. But the first 5 or 6 games can be misleading.
The top 4 in the west are likely to be San Antonio, Dallas, Minnesota, and Utah. The East will be Detroit, Indiana, Miami, and Cleveland. Nobody else on either side matters, or has much of a chance at the Finals.

are calling them T-M-T. Timmy, Manu, Tony. Sounds good, eh?
Great win against the Knicks last night. Interesting comparison of the conferences. They were both leading their conference. The Spurs with a 6-1 record, the 76ers with a 4-4 record.
Amazing.

I don't know what I would do without the Internet. The NBA doesn't get a lot of coverage in Cincinnati, much less the Spurs. It is hard for an expatriate Texan to stay tuned in!

I wonder if his leaving Cleveland has helped or hurt them. In a way, one could think that his leaving has enabled LeBron to totally take over that team, which is good.
OTOH, those two together were going to be an incredible pairing for years, a potential Stockton/Malone.

does Stackhouse come off the bench? Does he like to? Howard was impressive, too.

<whine> I love this city, but nothing makes me miss my old hometown of Lawrence, Kansas, more than watching a Craptors game. A team that can't make the playoffs in the Eastern Confrence embodies all that is suckiness. They're having a decent start at 4-3 this year, but you just know they're gonna go on a 10 game losing streak in the next couple months to sink them to the bottom of the standings. :-(

My Bulls are crap. When your best players are a second-year point guard and a rookie swingman (Hinrich and Deng) you got real problems.

He's missed something like over 200 games in the past 4 years nd endured 4 andkle surgeries, and he's "en fuego" right now.
It's practically a miracle.
