Adrian Beltre is a Mariner!

Mna, I'm seriously stoked. I never thought I'd see the M's lay out over 115 million dollars for two players!

Beltre is a stud and finally fills a position that has been an absolute black hole for us.

1. Hopefully this next season will be a good one
My husband and I were so disappointed last season. We decided not to make it up to Seattle to see a game. For us, our loyalty will always be with Ichiro. My husband is Japanese and considers him a God. For me, he is sexy as all get out. :)

2. Yes!
Looks like they are serious about getting back into contention.

3. I hope the M's shake the NL player jinx with Beltre
...anybody know any good spells? :)

Aurelia was a bust and that third baseman whose name escapes me (my God this early onset senility is a tremendous burden) was also a bust.

During the playoffs when I heard that Beltre was going to be a free agent my immediate reaction was to hope the M's would go after him. Then I thought of the NL jinx and wasn't so sure.

I wish they'd landed Delgado for first...I'm filled with dread that Sexson will spend most of the season on injured reserve.

Oregon person (forgive me for forgetting your nickname so soon--I refer you to the senility mentioned above)...I'll bet your husband and you enjoyed Ichiro's chase of the hit record this past season :) It sure wowed me.

4. The league switching thing
usually affects the mid-range player and not the MVP/Star quality player like Beltre.

I'm not worried about that at all.

There is a world of difference between Cirillo/Aurelia and Sexson/Beltre as far as talent and physical ability go.

This is a huge day in Mariner history. No doubt about it.

5. I sincerely hope you are right.
I hope that '04 was a breakout season for Beltre and not a fluke. And before you take me to task for that let me say that given his age it is entirely possible that it was definitely a breakout. Believe me, I want this to work wonders for the Mariners. And thanks for jogging the old synapses with Cirillo. I can't believe I couldn't bring his name to mind.
