Any Houston Rockets fans here?
It's hard, these days, when your favorite team is from Bush Country. But dammit, I've been a fan of this team for what seems like an eternity. So has anyone else gone through the nightmare that is following this team?

1. I am from Houston and so support the team
It is tough living in a red state. The rockets may make the playoffs this year.

I am still sorry that Rudy is gone. I wished that we had waited for him to come back.

2. Shame about the coach
Van Gundy is the wrong coach for that team. With TMac and the rest of their personnel, you need to run. That slow, grinding East Coast crap just won't cut it in the West.

3. I think there is a chance that Van Gundy will see what his team
needs to do and adjust his coaching style around that. If not, they will struggle to make the playoffs. If he does, the Rockets could go deep. Van Gundy has done plenty of shifting the lineup to determine what group works best together. I believe he has found it now, although I still expect to see a trade before the deadline.

4. He never has before
Every team van Gundy has coached has played the same thuggish plodding style, regardless of personnel.

5. That loss last night to the Bobcats
was as bad a game as they have played this year.

Jeff Van Gundy had all the clout when he arrived. That's why there was no place left for Rudy T (didn't want him looking over his shoulder) and that's why Stevie Franchise got traded (because VG didn't like him). Look how Francis, Mobley, and even Cato (before he was injured) have thrived in a run-and-gun offense.

The pendulum has swung now. VG's "system" still doesn't work even with T-Mac playing with Yao. Yao in fact has taken a step or two backwards this year (which may not actually be JVG's fault). The real problem is that there's no one -- absolutely no one -- on the roster besides those two the Rockets can trade to get better.

Even Eddie Griffin is making their personnel decisions look bad. That's Carroll Dawson's heat to fade, but he's been part of the organization for so long I can't see him getting axed. And no matter how bad they play the rest of the season, JVG won't be fired because the Rockets can't afford to cut and run from their 'strategery' after two seasons.

Juwan Howard or Jim Jackson or Bob Sura or Maurice Taylor or someone is going to have to step up their play.

Of course, there's always the indomitable Scott Padgett...

9. And now a second loss to the Bobcats
If they can't beat an expansion team (3rd worst team in the league), some changes need to be made. Yao & T-Mac are playing great, I don;t think the other 3 huys realize they are even on the court.

11. Swept by Charlotte for the season
Expansion Bobkitties get their first win on the road. Probably the only one they get all year.

Impressive.

This the game after Yao and T-Mac go for 40 and 34 respectively.

It'll be like this all year, too.

6. I'm a Spurs fan first and Rockets second.
We get more Spurs games and coverage here in the Austin area than the Rockets. And we've even managed to zip down to San Antonio for a game. I haven't managed to become a Mavericks fan, though.

8. They're not my favorite...
...but I really enjoyed watching them when The Glide and The Dream played. Those were some great teams.
