Thousands expected to brave winter winds to see Red Sox
PORTLAND, Maine — After an 86-year championship drought, dedicated Red Sox fans from across Maine weren´t about to let Friday´s cold weather keep them from seeing players hoist their World Series trophy.

Bundled in Red Sox winter gear and listening to chants of "Yankees suck!" blasted over a public announcement system, fans began gathering around noon at Portland´s Monument Square for the opportunity to share firsthand a World Series victory with members of the team.

"My dad told me long ago that they were going to make me cry many times," said Debra Bradbury of Lewiston, who had a handpainted cardboard sign to wave at the rally. "But when they won the World Series, it was a good cry."

1. *shiver*
I watched them play at Fenway one year on April 28 and damned near died of the cold. Despite the World Series win, I don't think I could brave the weather for them. Baseball weather is at least 75 F, but preferrably well into the 80s.

3. I went to see the trophy
in Burlington a couple weeks ago. It was about 25 and windy, and we waited about 2 hours to see the trophy for 15 minutes, but it was worth every second.

5. Thanks for the welcome!
I do believe the trophy will be touring every single town in Massachusetts, but haven't seen a timetable. Maybe you can catch sight of it during your visit East.

I tell ya -- that thing sure is pretty! :D

6. Off Topic
Looks like the Red Sox are getting Matt Clement! I am so jealous (wish the Twins went after him).
