Owner: time to let Vince Young go |
|
"NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Titans owner Bud Adams says it's time to let Vince Young go and for the franchise to find its next quarterback. The Titans released a statement Wednesday night in which Adams said Young won't be on the team's roster next season, but he's still evaluating the coaching staff." http://www.boston.com/sports/football/articles/2011/01/05/owner_time_to_let_vince_young_go/I'm guessing Fisher stays...

Amazing. He started the Houston Oilers. And he still calls the shots.
I hope Vince Young ends up with a good team and settles down.

3. Adams looks good compared to Al Davis. |

I thought it was interesting that they pointed out how Young was free to continue using the facilities, after the shabby way they treated McNair on his way out. They caught a lot of shit about that, and rightly so.
Short of a transformation ala Vicks, I don't see Young having much of a future. He has all the talent, but not the temperament.

Not really sure outside of Luck, what QB I want for my team out of the draft. Who is being discussed for my team as possible veterans are Palmer and McNabb. While those QBs could give them a couple of good years, I think they need a QB that can be good for them for awhile and Young is younger than those guys. He's had close to 60% last 2 years, 7.3 YPA last year, 8.0 this year. Plus more touchdowns to interceptions.
It will be really hard to find a QB worse than the crop of QBs came up with last season. In defense of Skelton and Hall, they're rookies.

4. You're a Cards guy, right? |
|
They need to go back to the draft, and stop trying to resurrect QB's with fading talent. I know they struck out with Leinart, but the facts are that highly drafted QB's rarely pan out. You have to keep going to the well. I'd be looking at that kid from Boise State, Kellen Moore. I think he could do well with the Cards,if the coaching staff is up to it.

I don't see the talent fading, it improved from his first few seasons. I look at how Tennessee did with VY compared to Collins/Rusty Smith. His numbers were higher and they were winning more games. I feel Leinart would of done well enough to at least threaten for a playoff spot the way the division panned out. He hasn't been able to receive much playing time behind Warner. The one game he did play last year receiving first team snaps, was against Tennessee. He didn't throw touchdowns or interceptions but his YPA was 7.4 YPA. He also drove them down field and floated 20-30 yard pass over a defender to Beanie Wells to set up a close Tim Hightower run in the 4th quarter. VY, with 99 yards ago abused the spy defense and completed 3 4th downs including the very last play of the game. He is very accurate, lacks great arm strength. Anderson did have arm strength but his accuracy is very off. And he makes terrible decisions.
Out of the rookies, Skelton was hard to evaluate with drops in the Denver and Carolina game. He has arm strength and pocket poise. He doesn't make mistakes nearly as often as Derek Anderson. He is big and has above average speed for a quarterback which helps him break tackles and run for positive yardage. However he still has a long way to go in develop but I do like some things in him.
I do want the best QB available but I would like whoever that is to be as young as possible. I haven't had cable so I haven't had a chance to had a good look at the QBs that are mentioned as the cream of the crop. I've seen many games featuring Andrew Luck and he impressed me more than any QB in the nation early in his freshman season. Anyways if he declares he'll go to Carolina. The others, Jake Locker, not very impressive. He hasn't done to hot against my team, he didn't have a very good Holiday Bowl on top of that. I only saw Ryan Mallett once this season against Alabama. He throw interceptions when Arkansas needed a score too win. I saw the highlights against Ohio St and he did the same thing. That is a very small sample size though and the odds of throwing an interception greatly improve in those type of situations. I seen Newton in the SEC Championship, very impressive. Bigger game changer than Tebow IMO, plus his throwing mechanics are a lot better. However that is one game. That is why I said I'm not sure who they should get if they get a QB in the draft. If they get one I hope it is one that will do good in the pros.
Anyways, regarding VY. I said I wouldn't mind him. If they can't find a better QB than VY, get VY.
