More proof Jerry Jones is a Douche.
For one-third the price of a regular ticket, NFL fans will be able to stand outside Cowboys Stadium and act like they are attending the Super Bowl XLV. The league announced on Wednesday that tickets to watch the game on large HD video screens on the east side of the stadium will cost $200.

They're calling it the "party plaza," because what's more of a party than spending two bills to go through a security line for the right to sit on a grassy knoll, pay $9 for a beer and watch a game that's freely available on television?

Tickets will first be offered to Cowboys season-ticket holders who will have to buy in blocks of four. The $800 will cover four tickets to watch the game, four programs, four scarves and a parking pass. Scarves? For that price, they better be Burberry.

"We've never done this before," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN Dallas of the league's plan to price-gouge folks who want to attend the Super Bowl without actually attending the Super Bowl.

Besides additional revenue, the biggest upside for the Cowboys is that those buying tickets to the party plaza will count toward the game's official attendance. Jerry Jones has expressed a desire to break the Super Bowl record for biggest crowd, which was set in 1980 when 103,985 attended the game at the Rose Bowl.

How people standing outside a stadium counts as attendance is beyond me. If you're standing next to an unplugged TV, does that mean you'll be tallied in the Nielsen ratings?

1. The douchebags are the ones who buy those tickets. Jerry Jones is just
applying the axiom of "there is a sucker born every minute". I assume there will be a lot of Cowboy season ticket holders also doing the same thing. Lots of suckers from either Green Bay, Chicago, New York, or Pittsburgh will be looking for those tickets!

Maybe even some douches from Miami!!

:D

5. Riddle me this batman...
Why would anyone pay $800 for four tickets to sit in a parking lot? Other than to sell the tickets to those that PT Barnum has described?

Interestingly, if the Bears go, you will be able to spend the weekend with Rush.

Just sayin!

20. Exactly
It's not like he's forcing people to watch it there. There will be hordes of douchenugget football fans who'll think this is "awesome."

2. There's a Jack in the Box down the road
I ate there last summer after touring Cowboys Stadium. No reason those patrons don't count toward attendance.

I also seem to remember a nearby grocery store, visible from the Tom Landry statue.

By this standard the closing ceremony attendance figure at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 needs to soar by many thousand. I stood outside in a crowd and stared at the wall of the Coliseum for more than an hour, before dashing in as soon as a guard walked away from the nearby exit.

4. Absolutely no more proof needed.
This FACT has been known for ions. The big downer for me is this years NFL championship will be played at Jerry Jones Stadium. Just a fucking bummer.

6. 70-48. Now that I got that out, Jerry Jones Stadium is the Premier football stadium in the NFL.
Unfortunately, Jerry's coach was not interested in getting there.

7. We're rebuilding, mad.
It'll take time. Methinks we've got the right guy. As for the other. Jets-Packers. Jery Jones Stadium.

8. Yes, but on the upside,
Jerry's team won't be on the field. It's still got to burn his ass that he's hosting someone else's party.

10. Yes and No.
The NFL is pouring Mega-dollars into Jerry's bank-account. 200 bucks to stand "outside" the stadium and buy $9 beers!

cha-ching!

17. IMHO,
given the choice he'd trade that money for another Lombardi trophy in a second, though. And honestly, I think that might be one of his few redeeming qualities as an owner.

18. ...
That was the "no" part of my comment. Jerry was looking for the trifecta, but didn't quite get it.

conversation here!

16. Yes, of course he likes the money,
but he's already got piles of that. He loves the money, but he WANTS the trophies. I think given the choice between the Cowboys in the SB somewhere else, and someone else in the SB at his stadium, he'd fire up his jet in a second. The SB at his stadium is his "silver medal". It's great to have but not what he REALLY wanted.

Do NOT give him any ideas....Though I bet Snyder would open up the club level to watch the game for a price, he's done that sort of thing when the Skins were in the playoffs....

23. If Danny could have gotten a SB in Washington/Maryland he would have done that.
Of course, if it was anything like last winter in early Feb, there would not have been anyone at the game, PERIOD!
