Saints fans?
Being a saints fan and a predominately democratic voter I am more than accustomed to defeat.
That said......the Saints still have a shot to get into the playoffs.
Ain't mediocrity grand?

1. How long, oh Lord! How long?
So, has Haslett had it? What's the word in the street back in N'wawlins? I never talk to my buddies about football when we do chat.

I've been a Saints fan since the start of the franchise, when I was an eight year old kid. I even had one of those gold berets with the fluer-de-lis, and the factheaded Saint guy stickers on my bedroom windows.

And it grows wearisome. But we still keep coming back for more.

3. I don't live in N.O anymore
But did get a chance to go to the Carolina game and they looked horrible. The crowd was calling for Haz's head that day.
But they pulled it out today.

5. About Haz...
What we have here is an owner/front office problem (again!). So, there's no telling what Benson's going to do at the end of this season. But, I really got the feeling that Haslett would be back after the Dallas win... that we pulled one out of our ass this week didn't hurt his chances.
I think there's only one thing you can be sure about- Coach Venturi will not be our Defensive Coordinator next season. I'd be amazed if they let him go all together, but we need a heavy in the DC job.

I dunno. If we lose the last two, that'd leave a nasty taste in the mouth. Could be all for Jim Haslett.

Benson's whimsy.

11. Venturi should have been gone a long time ago
I don't know why they keep him around? I guess they have the same disease as the old offensive coordinator under Mora. What was his name?
They couldn't get rid of him forever.

12. Wow.
Holy Crap! Look where Carl Smith is these days -
http://usctrojans.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/smith_carl00.html

I think he was/is Mora Sr.'s brother-in-law or something. Seriously, wasn't he?
Mora's allegiance to Carl cost the Saints big time in the mid 90s.
Those guys couldn't "do... diddley...poo..."

But, Venturi's a great guy, and not a bad coach from what I understand. He'd be great as a D assistant or position coach. I'm pretty sure he was actually on the coaching staff in the Mora era.
He must have something on Benson. :D

14. Carl Smith
He used to drive me crazy.
I used to remember all those games against the Rams with Jim Everett and then of course the 49ers.
I still can't stand either of those teams.
After seeing them play Carolina this year, I don't se how the same team can win next week. Brooks looked like he couldn't give a damn if they won or lost and they had so many penalties and dropped balls it was nerve wracking.

7. Yup, they decided to jump ahead of the 5 win pack
I wonder who it will be next week? Washington? Arizona? Dallas? New York? Detroit? Chicago? Tampa Bay? The way the NFC is playing is unfair to teams like Baltimore, Denver, Jacksonville, and Buffalo who are all 8-6 but only 1 can make the playoffs. Saints have only played 4 teams with a winning record(all losses) this year, 16 games and only 25% is vs opponents who are better then .500.

9. You have a point.

Saints' D blows. How we managed to keep the last two teams under 20 pts is beyond me. I guess it's because the Saints are playing the hungry guys.
The Saints were on the lucky end of a bad call today (it never happens, but hey...) and they managed to pull one out.

The AFC is hell this season. Ten years ago, they couldn't touch the NFC.
There's probably some political lesson we could take from this, but it's all footballs here!

10. Remember Brook's backwards pass?
I never thought I would see New Orleans in the playoff hunt after seeing a play like that.

13. How to ensure you'll be in at least one NFL Films production this year...
Probably seemed like a good idea at the time. :)
Saints are doomed when AB gets rattled.

8. Saints fan since 1969...
which means I am a LONG-suffering fan.

I grew up in New Orleans. Live in Dallas now, but still have family down there. I will be in NO this weekend for Christmas, and might even try to make the Atlanta game.

15. Not really a fan, but I've always like them
I think it's because they have cool uniforms. I remember the days of Archie Manning too. He was a good one.

16. I've always liked the Saints, though their not my favorite....
...team (obviously), and that was some win over the Bucs. Talk about pulling a rabit out of a hat! But hell, my team did the same this past weekend.
