The Boston Bruins clinched the Northeast Division but keep their focus on the cup
BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins clinched the Northeast Division title with a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden.

Big deal. A division title means absolutely nothing.

There was no celebrating. There was no champagne toast. The Bruins' locker room was quiet, almost as if they had lost the game. In fact, defenseman Johnny Boychuk was the only player sporting a Northeast Division champions T-shirt and hat.

The team definitely has the potential, but Boston hasn't accomplished anything, yet.

1. Where is Forkboy? Was he at the game or was he at a figure skating competition?

2. Doesn't really mean much.
There are bigger and better things to win still. :)

3. Why would there be a champagne toast?
The only sport that celebrates the winning of nothing is baseball.

4. You're probably right

I was thinking primarily of baseball when I bolded that but also football as well. I think when it comes to football, I was thinking of the Cardinals in the '08-09 season. They haven't won a division since the 70's at that point so they had a champagne shower. They also dumped Gatorade on their coach. They also gave their coach a Gatorade shower after the WC round win, another one after winning the Divisional round, and another one after winning the NFC Championship. Whisenhut got 4 Gatorade showers that year. I understand those were rare feats but it was getting a little ridiculous.
