All of the Sports Column in IC was pulling for VCU. Well done. A ride for the ages.

5. Didn't hit the shots and they bad guys did
Mack and #3 hit shots. If it ain't blocked you should hit it. Howard produced 9-14 points on fouls and a great put back.

VCU had it but they simply didn't hit the shots. Rodriguez really isn't a scorer, Skeen was clearly hurt, Rozell was overexcited... but they didn't hit the shots. It was that simple.

Great run. They were outplayed.

6. That rim was very unkind.
How some of that shit didn't fall is beyond me. Would of made a HUGE difference if some of it did. That's fucking life.

8. Yeah but Butler didn't have a problem with it
there was some comment about shooting in that cavernous arena but then everyone was shooting on the same rims. The elevated floor probably didn't help perception of the rim either but like I said Butler shot well.

7. Never thought I would be rooting against Butler
But VCU has always been a favorite of mine in Las Vegas. I've won so many bets on them it's ridiculous. First year in town I knew squat about betting basketball so I picked up a weekly tout sheet. They were high on VCU so I rode that team 4-5 consecutive games and cashed every one. Then they were playing Richmond and I jumped on VCU per usual. I couldn't understand why the money was going the other way. VCU lost a tight game. Later than night a local sharp guy matter of factly told me both teams were in the same city. I felt like an idiot for not knowing.

Anyway, VCU got more reliant on 3 point shots as the tourney went on. That's a tough need. I thought their style against Purdue was ideal, more outside in than inside out.
