Only in the NBA...
I can't imagine http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Video-Heat-and-Timberwolves-fall-asleep-at-the-?urn=nba-wp833">this happening at any other level...

So much talent, so much "phoning it in." Except for LeBron in this case, I suppose.

1. Can't get it to load
Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 10:06 AM by JonLP24
but based on description, seems like an and 1? It seems they forgot he had one shot rather than two. Brain fart I think. I guess it is kinda like Jim Marshall running the wrong way or Plaxico Burress, in his rookie season, spiking the ball mid-field after falling down after a catch. No one touched so it was a fumble that the other team recovered, probably used to college rules at the time.

2. It was 1 after the foul
Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 10:17 AM by caraher
so it should have been an obvious 1-shot situation. The amazing thing was that most of BOTH teams just stood there; it wasn't just a brain fart by one guy (though whoever went to block out James seems to have been on the ball at first but stopped playing when he saw nobody else moving).

Here's a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oafKuJvOwHA">YouTube link.

3. I think everyone on the court threw off #19
Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 10:26 AM by JonLP24
He was running up there and saw everyone reacting like it was 1 of 2 so at that point I think he thought it must of been 1 of 2. Never seen anything like that before.

Does Bosh get a turnover or an assist on that play?

7. Yeah, I think that's what happened to him
Which still leaves 3 Wolves and 2 Heat players on either side of the lane thinking... what?

4. Shameful
It DOESN'T happen at any other level. Not the NFL. Not MLB. Hockey? I guess not.

5. I brought up a couple of NFL examples
Edited on Sun Apr-03-11 11:38 AM by JonLP24
Couple years ago, Justin Upton hit a deep ball which he thought was a homer so he was watching it from home plate. It bounced off the wall and the Rockies were able to hold him up at first. If he hustled, he would of got 2 bases easily. There was one MLB player, forgot his name, played outfield. He caught what he thought was the third out so he tossed it to the fans when it was actually just the second out.

Anyways that said. In thousands of games watching basketball, this is the only time I have ever seen this.

6. The forgotten guy you mentioned was Milton Bradley
He wanted to get in good with Cub fans and he failed miserably.

The entire team looked like it gave up

9. Looked more like a brain fart than giving up
It is odd a 3-4 players had it happen at the same time. I'm guessing there was a fair amount of time elapsed before James attempted his free throws(video skips to the FT attempt so it isn't clear). Or it could of been the only and 1 opportunity at the point in the game so they could of been used to 2 free throw attempts the entire game so when he only shot 1 it threw them off.

These sports are different so it may not be easy to find a similar example, baseball is so individually based that is nearly impossible to find 3 or 4 players forgetting something at the same time. Just saying brain farts happen all the time whether it is refs, players, or coaches.

11. it was a time out situation
there was a time out, then they came out for the free throw. Just a funny thing that happened is all.

The NBA has gotten a lot better. I remember the bad old days when they were given three chances to make two free throws. :eyes:

12. A new world record for group cranial flatulence?
I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but for that many guys not to have their heads in the game at the same time suggests that on the whole they were going through the motions in a game they felt was already over. (Which it realistically probably was...)
