Anyone catch the Pujols story on 60 Minutes last night? |
|
I may still hold a grudge against the Cardinals for 2006, but I've always admired Albert Pujols. He's a talented player, and a pretty classy human being.
Even though he attended Beck's rally last year in D.C., I still have a hard time disliking him.
Here's hoping he doesn't re-sign with the Cards. I know of a certain NL team in New York City who would benefit from his talents at first base.

1. Nice guy but a bit naive. |
|
Pujols also was confused as to why some observers thought he was participating in a political rally.
"I know a lot of people were thinking it was going to be a political thing or something like that. What I heard was ... everybody praising God for the amazing things done in their life, family and the soldiers," Pujols said.

3. I'm guessing he'll be traded near the deadline |
|
I don't think the Cardinals can afford him anymore, and their attempts to surround him with some talent seem halfhearted at best. I know in the past he's always been willing to take less money in exchange for being on a championship-caliber team, but that's not St. Louis these days.
I don't blame him for wanting more money, he's one of the best in baseball, and as long as owners are shelling out obscene cash, he might as well get his share. I'm hoping, if he gets traded, it will finally get LaRussa pried off of the bench and into retirement so that the Cards can finally move on. LaRussa is a first-ballot Hall of Fame manager, but his days are done.
