NBA History Made Today
This the first time the #1 and #2 seeds (Spurs and Lakers) have both lost their opening game on the same day. Ever.

I don't think it means much, as both will win in 5 or 6. The Spurs barely lost, and will have Manu back Wednesday. The Lakers looked flat. They're at bigger risk, but I don't see the depleted Hornets holding on to a seven game series.

I'm still surprised the Cows beat the Blazers yesterday. I had the Blazers in the Western Conference Finals. It could still happen, though.

1. Why are you projecting your irrational hatred of Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys onto the
Dallas Mavericks.

:wtf:

2. I'm a Spurs fan
we've been hating on the Cows for a long, long time.

Definition of MAVERICK
1 : an unbranded range animal; especially : a motherless calf
2 : an independent individual who does not go along with a group or party

Just going by the dictionary definition. :P

I suppose I should more properly call them the Calves, now. Thanks. :hi:

3. ...
Are you a Dallas Cowboys fan??

:hi:

BTW, I never thought of Cuban's teams as very "mavericky" or "palin-esque".

:P

4. not a fan of the 'Boys
Still some residual hatred there from my lifelong love of the Redskins.

I finally decided I just couldn't be a Skins fan anymore due to the racist nature of the name. I switched to the Saints, but then they went and won the Superbowl, and I felt like a bandwagoner.

I'm not much of an NFL fan, anyway. Give me college football. (Roll Tide!)

5. The NBA changed the first round to a 7 game series because they didn't like their 1 seeds getting
picked off in the first round. It hasn't mattered. The year the rule changed one of the 1 seeds still went out right away.

6. I don't think that was the reason
It rarely happened before or since.

I think they just liked the revenue from more games on TV.

7. Whatever the reason
it was great that they did. I wish MLB would get rid of the 5-game format in the first round and go to 7 games.

But I think you're right. I only recall Denver beating Seattle as a #8 beating #1 in the first round in a five game set. Denver lost the first 2 in that series.
