I saw one game there -- Spring of 1976. A friend and I skipped a half a week of classes and drove from Ohio to New York City just to see the Yankees. It was my first time ever in N.Y. Can't remember who they played. But I do remember that when you bought a hot dog from a vendor it was passed down a row of seats without a protective sleeve or napkin wrapped around it -- everyone in your row touched the bun. Yecch!

What are your memories of Yankee Stadium... besides wanting to tear it down yourself?

1. I stole home plate from the bullpen

On Luis Tiant's first game in the majors for Cleveland( he won 2-0) we stole home plate from the bullpen. We dug it up with spoons(1965). At that time fans walked out center field. We were probably the reason why they ended that privilege.( id do have the picture).

I also saw Tom Tresh hit 3 hr's in one game.

3. It was the only place I ever went where I actually enjoyed (some) Yankees fans.

I actually loved the place because it maintained that '70s baseball feel I grew up knowing so well. I went to a game or two (on average) a year (though I missed a couple years) for about 15 years, until the new park opened in 2009. I've been to New York twice since the new park opened, but I have no desire to go there. It's not a big deal. It just makes me shrug, when I think about going to a game there.

My favorite memory probably remains bringing my five-month-old to his first major league game: Yankees-Red Sox. He smiled, he napped, he ate (breast fed -- one of the great family mementos is always a picture of your kid breast-feeding in Yankee Stadium! Am I wrong?), and he got a few unexpected high fives. The Sox won. Heck. If truth be known, I should have sold my services to the rest of the AL. The Yankees winning percentage at home, with me in the stands, must be less than .300.
