Dodgers pull out of mega-deal (Randy Johnson)
The three-way trade that was expected to send Randy Johnson from the Diamondbacks to the Yankees died on Tuesday when the Dodgers pulled out of the deal, Los Angeles general manager Paul DePodesta said.

Despite reports earlier in the day that paperwork had been sent to the Commissioner's office for approval, there had been strong denials from the Diamondbacks and equivocation all day by the Dodgers, who finally said late Tuesday that they were pulling the plug.

"The deal is no more," DePodesta said during a conference call, his second in the past two days. "The (media) reports were ahead of where we were. I was saying all along I wouldn't do a deal unless it made sense for our '05 club. At the end of the day, I feel that wasn't the case."
