Anyone see the moran jump into the net at Yankee
Stadium last night?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/baseball/mlb/08/10/bc.bba.whitesox.yankees.ap/index.html?cnn=yes

I remember watching the last game where someone did that. Is it me, or is that incredibly stupid?

2. The Army recruiter should snap him up
He would make a good decoy on point in Falluja.

3. Distinct lack of critical thinking skills.

1. Its a ways down to the net. Even if it stops you, it's gonna hurt unless you land just so.

2. If it DOESN'T hold you, and there's any number of reasons for it not to, you are going to fall and most likely die.

3. If you do live, I suspect your insurance may refuse you coverage.

And most important, imo:

4. If the net fails, and you fall through, you are very likely to kill one or more of the people you land on.

Now, I'm actually OK with people doing this sort of thing and risking items 1-3 above. You want to be an idiot, risk your own neck doing stuff like that? Have at it. Don't expect me to pay your insurance costs or hospital bills. Don't expect me to pad and safety rail the whole world to protect you from yourself. But, go right ahead.

However, I absolutely will NOT accept #4, risking other peoples lives. There is NO excuse for that, period.
In Ready4Change City, this dude would go directly from the hospital into jail.

4. The Yes commentators were funny
they were talking about how the Yankees were taking him to get checked out, even though it seemed pretty clear he was getting dragged out to be interrogated.

9. Yes, and there was a hole in the net close by
I don't think there were any shots of the guy actually jumping, but I did see him on the net apparently in shock (or drunk). When he climbed up the net to the mezzanine private boxes he was right next to a pretty good sized hole in the net. I don't know if he made the hole when he jumped or it was already there but he came pretty damned closed to killing some people in the field level seats beneath it.

That was one hellova jump for those not familiar with Yankee Stadium. The upper deck is WAY up there.

Once at a game years ago a guy climbed the screen on the right field foul pole and the game was held up until he reached the upper deck when they grabbed him.

12. I read that he was drunk.
As drunk as I've ever been, though, I'd like to think I wouldn't pull a stupid stunt like this.
