Calling all devotees of Big Blue....

...here are some thoughts on this upcoming season.

Eli - needs to continue improving....he's been a little inconsistent at camp.

OL - looks to be very improved, hopefully they stay healthy

Plaxico - he's not a game breaker, he's a taller stronger version of Ike Hilliard but that't important enough.

Amani - needs to do something big this year.

Carter - could be a gamebreaker especially with his supporting cast.

Tiki - nuff said

New kids backing him up (Jacobs)- looks damn good in preseason and we also have Cloud.

DL - Ocie needs to step it up and its great to have Strahan back. Joseph better play like he can too.

LB - not outstanding but good enough

DBs - Love WilL P., Gibril and Frank Walker. Shaun really needs to return to old form and one of my former fav's Will Allen needs to stop taking steps back everytime he moves forward...oh and guys learn to catch the freaking ball, I think there were at least 20 dropped INTs last year.

Special Teams - the good news is that we are actually decent...the bad news is that we still haven't imported the special teams staff from VaTech.

Thoughts? Impressions? Any derisive comments about our division rivals?

Also I left out Jimmy Finn who could have another good year.

He's the FB though they do run screens for him once in a while.

5. LBs - Antonio Pierce could make them a lot stronger

I am going to get my first look at them tonight against the Jets at Giant Stadium. I just can't see the things I am looking for on TV. I love being able to isolate on particular players during a game and you can only do that in person.

My son went last week and came back with raves about Jacobs, says he's one of the fastest guys on the field.

6. I have to wait until they come to San Diego to see them live....

...and the only home game I may make this year is the Chiefs on 12/17 but even that is a little iffy for a Christmas trip back home.

So thank freaking god for the Ticket though I'm kind of pissed all the new channels they added are for HD only.

8. 15-14 Giants

Just got back from the game. Feely was tremendous, 5 FGs, including 53 and 54 yarders and kickoffs into the end zone for the first time in a long time.

Strahan, with a sack & INT was in top form, Webster with another INT looks like a ball hawk, also great coverage by him. LBs stepped up and did a very good job. Overall the defenses was excellent, though Joseph still doesn't look like he is ever going to be what we thought.

Derrick Ward had a very good game, looks like a great backup. Didn't see enough of Jacobs to make any judgments and that disappointed me.

Hasselbeck looked just awful imo and Palmer, though he began with that terrible pitch to no one resulting in a Jets TD, looked pretty decent.

Punt returns - ugh! Look for a new punt returner by mid-week.

I counted at least 3.

last year's returner hasn't practiced yet. And we may pick up a returner elsewhere. The rest of the special teams are completely awesome.

9. this is going to be a good team

the defense was very good tonight. Eli stays healthy, we'll be a good team. The weapons are all there. And Plaxico is a game breaker. YPC of over 19 for his career. Cloud should be cut. Ward is better. Corey Webster is a player. He could win Allen's job by midseason. Our specials could be the best in the league if we find a punt returner who can catch the ball.
