On September 15, 1986, Mike Laga of the St. Louis Cardinals became the first, and to this date the only, baseball player to hit a ball literally out of Busch Stadium. Although the ball was foul, Laga still received a standing ovation from the crowd, thus beginning a love affair between Cardinals fans and standing ovations which continues to this day.
