The opening is about 2 years too old and that "I like it shit" just plain sucks.

1. its such a corporate bullshit broadcast now.
i never watch mnf unless my home team is in it and then with the sound down and radio on.
once it was about the game. now its an 'event' and the game is the backdrop. not for me.

9. DING DING DING
You said a mouthful bulli. 3.5 hrs while the ball is in play less than 15 minutes. Michaels and Madden and the sponsors are the show, the game is an excuse.

Comcast Sportsnet has been showing CFL games pretty regularly. There aren't any Peyton Mannings or LeDamian Tomlinsons on the field there, but it's a better watch, IMO. They sometimes go 10-12 plays without a commercial, penalty, or injury. They have to ADD commercials to get the telecast up to 3 hours.

2. Why the hell does MNF think all football fans are rural red staters?
Jeez, country ain't exactly a universally popular genre. Also note the use of partisan announcers like Al Michaels and Dennis Miller. Same parent company also hired Limbaugh as an "analyst" over at ESPN.

5. The Hank Jr. thing is one thing, but then to shove another country...
..."star" down our throats, is too much. Frankly, I'd much rather see Eminem's "Mosh" for the halftime song.

11. I think he might have helped her see the light
Some other funny things I noticed—all game show hosts seem to be Republicans, and although most country stars are Republicans, there are a couple of notable exceptions: Tim McGraw, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, and Faith Hill (as examples) are all 100% Dems (except for Raitt, who’s 1% Republican). Sex and the City author Candice Bushnell is solidly GOP, but Sarah Jessica Parker is solidly Dem.

12. That's great news
Now if she would just go back to being blond, and decide she'd prefer a 50-ish math professor to a rich, handsome songwriter....

15. Just read something in Mother Jones...
It was a book review about the country music biz. The writer said that while many execs and artists are left-leaning, they know that the right-wing cheerleader bit is selling right now. Which makes it even worse, but still, it's a pretty interesting theory.

14. Take Al and John with them...
I really got sick of Al's smart-ass glib Repug wisecracks in the lead-up to the '04 election. I've soured on him ever since. As for John, well, he's just a punchline anymore.
