NCAA:Better coaching job so far this year? |
|
Charlie Weis 5-2 Just got first home win. ND was 6-6 last year
OR
Urban Meyer 5-2 still in it for the SEC East. UF was 7-5 last year.
I heard this mentioned during the Fla. UGa game this weekend. Everyone thinks Weis is doing such a great job but Meyer is in his first year too. Interesting perspective.

Florida has more talent than Notre Dame. In fact, that's why Meyer chose Florida, since he knew the talent pool was greater to start with and also the lower academic standards and geographic realities lended to easier acquisition of blue chippers year after year.
Florida was humbled at Alabama and couldn't defeat LSU despite receiving 5 turnovers. The Gator offense did nothing late in that game when victory was within reach, only a 4 point deficit. Both Notre Dame losses, even though very true they were at home and I've criticized that earlier, showed great spunk and could have gone either way, one in OT and the other a last second heartbreaker.
Florida's two biggest wins have come against teams with basically no quarterbacking, home to Tennessee and neutral site vs. Georgia without Schockley.

CW has done the better job. Think about it, Notre Dame is 6 points away from being at least #2 in the Nation right now. This is a team that was in complete disarray last year. Brady Quinn looks like a completly different QB. He has gone from just another college QB, to now people are saying he is a franchise QB, if you told anyone last year that Quinn would outplay Leinart in this years game they would have told you that you were nuts. That is just my opinion, but in the intrest of full disclosure I am pretty much a Notre Dame Whore for what its worth.

A couple of breaks here and there and ND would be 7-0, plus I think they play a tougher schedule. Yeah, Florida beat UGA but I'm still going with Weis (and I hate ND!)

Me and Randy Sanders both think so}(
Both guys are solid obviously. I would trade the guy who coaches my team for both. All though let me caution Domers Ty was 8-0 in his first year.

That's like picking two coaches all in one.
What's the over/under on Weis/Fulmer this weekend? I'd hate to be between them when they meet to shake hands.

But remember he then lost to BC and then got blown out by SC, and things went quickly downhill. You are not seeing that in this team.

Weis is all hype so far.
Losing home record.
5 wins over teams with a combined record of 17-24.
No wins against any team with fewer than 3 losses.
Luckily for Charlie, the sports media is a Notre Dame hype factory and will happily overrate the Irish any time they get the chance.
