...and that's why I didn't get my hopes up about the Bears. |
|
Twenty years, and they've never failed to disappoint me. The really sad thing is that the much heralded defense bears (no pun intended) the responsibility for the loss. 29 points? In a playoff game? At home? Not that the offense set any records, but 29 points, the first 6 coming on the second play from scrimmage. Sheesh.

1. To one disappointed Bears fan to another, I sympathize.. |

I could be completely wrong about this, but I think after the whipping they gave Carolina in November, "Da Bears" just got a wee bit over-confident.
The hype in the media here in Chicago was way out of line as well. I mean talking about a Super Bowl appearance, come on.
Hopefully, they take this beating and learn from it. This team really does remind me of the 83/84 Bear teams. If they stay together and healthy, they will be a force next year or the year after.
Oh and if Ron Rivera does take a head coaching job, bring back Mike Singletary. "Samuri Mike" will do the job with the defense as good, if not better, as Ron Rivera.

d. Still, you gotta like the improvement made since Lovie (and Angelo) came to town.
Seems to me that the Bears are modeling this team after the Bears of the mid-80's. The D will be better and pissed off next year as virtually every starter is young and under contract. Let's hope that Rex isn't as fragile as Jimmy Mac and hold on cuz this is gonna be a fun ride.

3. Going into that game, if you had asked virtually ANYONE... |

if the Bears scored 21 points, would they win the game? The answer would have been a resounding yes.
Pretty much the opposite of the whole season for the Bears - the offense played well enough to win, but the defense was horrible. How could any coach playing against Steve Smith not double him on EVERY SINGLE PLAY?
