Ozzie: A-Rod a phony
TAMPA - Last year it was the Red Sox taking shots at Alex Rodriguez; this year it's Ozzie Guillen.

The White Sox manager ripped into the Yankee third baseman in a magazine interview, targeting A-Rod's much-publicized waffling over whether to play for the Dominican Republic or the United States during next month's inaugural World Baseball Classic.

"Alex was kissing Latino people's (butts)," Guillen, who's from Venezuela, said in the most recent issue of Sports Illustrated. "He knew he wasn't going to play for the Dominicans; he's not a Dominican!"

..."I hate hypocrites: He's full of ---," Guillen said. "The Dominican team doesn't need his (butt). It's the same with (Nomar) Garciaparra playing for Mexico. Garciaparra only knows Cancun because he went to visit."

11. Indeed.
In the MLB world of PR mongering and fake personalities, it's nice to see a real person.

Ozzie can go all snarky any old time on Johnny Damon selling out to Stienbrenner, and then cutting his hair to make sure everyone knows that he has Assumed the Position.

8. Whatever.
A spade is a spade. He called it, and that's not classless. No matter how you poor put upon Yankee fans want to spin it, as usual.

9. we know the anomosity
you have towards A-Rod. If he saved someone's life, you'd criticize him for it. Guillen is way off base on this one. He actually has duel citizenship. This isn't like Piazza playing for Italy. But you wouldn't care about fairness. You just have an axe to grind.

10. Blah. Blah. Blah.
The only animosity here is coming from you, as usual. Ozzie hit it on the money. It's too bad you've got blinders. But we all know your blinders and constant anger by now.

12. I have no anger
not my fault you can't deal with the facts. You know those facts that led Ozzie to recant his remarks. Its time for you to get over A-Rod leaving Seattle.

Anger is all you've offered, as usual. I was happy to see A-Rod leave Seattle. The team improved after he left, in case you forgot.

Nevermind that Seattle isn't even my team, or my second team. It's just the team I can see most often due to geography.

Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

As for the apology, it's MLB PR at its finest. We all know how Ozzie feels, and his feelings are correct.

LOL!

14. I have offered no anger
nice of you to make things up. Of course, its what you do best around here. Seattle is in such fine shape now. They've been one of the worst teams in the AL for some time.

Ozzie's comments were off base. A-Rod has duel citizenship. You can criticize him for his waffling on who to play for. But it was not out of hypocrisy. Guillen was right to apologize. Evidently he has more class than you do.

16. You continue to make things up
I guess disagreeing with you is anger. No one else accused me of being angry. Only you. Because I presented facts that don't jibe with you preconceived notions. Enjoy your delussions. My usual routine is calling you on your delussions. I won't stop doing so because it makes you uncomfortable. Call me angry if you wish. It has no effect on me and only makes you look bad. Try real debate some time. But I guess calling me angry is easier that addressing the points I make.

17. I Really Don't Get The A-Rod Hating
It's like he's taking money from people directly. Why do you or should you even care how much money a professional athlete/entertainer makes. You don't get mad at Mick Jagger, Tom Cruise, or George Clooney for making $20 million on one tour or on one movie.

Moreover, given how Alfonso Soriano is rapidly flaming out of the majors, the trade is looking better and better for the Yankees every day.

Your posts offer up cranky rants, as usual. I call you on it, and all you can say is that I'm making things up. (Nevermind that your posts included much uninformed assumption about me, to be kind.) The humor noted in response to your posts is evidence that no one takes your anger seriously. I'm just kind enough to actually try to help you out. Please take a look in the mirror before continuing to rant and rave.

And isn't it funny that you didn't defend Nomar? Hmmmmm. That tells all.

LOL!

If you had once shown a sense of humor, you might have an argument. Alas, you have not.

Game over.

20. This thread was not about Nomar
it was about A-Rod. Not a cranky rant. You continue to make things up about me. I directed no anger in your direction. You can't seem to even address any of the points I made. You just accuse me of being angry. I see you come from the Karl Rove school of debate. Distract, so you don't have to debate on the merits. Way to go. You should be so proud.
