Anybody watch it?
Corinthian was DQ'ed and placed third. First Samurai was moved from second to first and Flashy Bull moved from third to second.
Corinthian went in a bit in the stretch impeding FS, then came out several lanes when FS was trying to go around him and bothered him again. I think it was an OK call by the stewards. He was all over the place in the stretch. It didn't look too bad from the side angle but the head on shot was another story.
The only other stake I saw on the card was the Honey Fox on the grass. Wend won.
It was a good day of racing in FL.

I am going to catch a replay tonight. Brother Derek won today and Lava Man won the Big Cap.

Sorry I missed the race. How did FirSam look? I wonder if he's best suited as a miler. After today's races I see no reason not to love Bro Derek.

On the weekly racing recap show. Gad, what a veer out by Corinthian despite the right hand whip! The race caller said he was all over the track but I didn't realize how blatant until the head on. It reminded me of Sunday Silence meandering through the stretch in the '89 Derby. But that was in open territory. Here Corinthian basically shoved the field a full five widths toward the outside.
First Samurai didn't look very explosive, or to have much of an excuse. When it gets longer he may be lapped. I'll have to look at Corinthian more closely since he displayed a hint of rare ability.
The interesting comment on the ESPN show was the horse who won the Santa Catalina, Brother Derek, was short, about 90% according to his owner, after defeating Stevie Wonderboy in the previous race. He also displayed a different running style yet won again, so you've got to be intrigued by that. I'll have to look at the breeding. My friend says he's a California bred.
