The Cubs are off to a modestly successful start.
Of the issues, I noted in my previous post.

Greg Maddux is off to a great start, a 2 year contract in the making? Greg still has a shot at 350 wins!

Jacque Jones is reminding everyone of an older Corey Patterson.

With the exception of Derek Lee, The Cubs still refuse to draw walks

Todd Walker should play 140-145 games at second!

Murton and Cedeno look like solid players thus far, but Dusty is still finding a way for Nefi Perez to get playing time. Aaargh!

Prior and Wood, we'll be lucky to get 30 starts from the 2 of them this year. And then goodbye Wood, can't pay 13 million a year for a long reliever who hurts himself because he doesn't know not to overextend his elbow.

Unfortunately, the Cubs division, excepting pittsburgh, the only good thing to come out of Pennslyvannia was Ryne Sandberg, looks pretty tough.

2. Aaargh! Derek Lee may be hurt!
X-rays on his right wrist were inconclusive. Hopefully it's only a strain as reported!

6. As a lifelong and long suffering Cub fan
I like the lineup. Pierre makes things happen, Cedeno is a good solid hitter, Walker was, is, and always be a solid hitter, Ramirez is just about ready to start smoking again, Jones, well we'll see, Barrett is a pretty good hitter, Murton will bat around .270 or so and be solid, and second base is a question m,ark until Lee gets back. The starting pitching worries the heck out of me though. Cy Maddux is having a rebirth, but no one else has shown much, save for the youngster, Marshall. But he's still young so the jury is still out on him.
Me and some friends have an informal pool going on for an over/under starts for Wood, Prior, and Miller. the number we picked was 35 starts between all three of them. I have under. If the Cubs stay in the chase, hopefully Hendry will find a starter somewhere.
