1. me too
this is amazing. Soler throws a 2-hit shutout against an undefeated pitcher. It's like 86 all over again.

2. When Soler blew up in the first inning of his first start
and then threw a beautiful 5 innings, I had a feeling he was going to be a really good pitcher. And what the heck is the story with Bannister? I guess his injury was a little more serious than we were led to believe. All the pieces are in place. Dare I say it...ya gotta believe.

4. From what I heard, they aren't rushing him back
I would say he will be back sometime around the all-star break. At the moment, pitching is going on all cylinders as well as offense so I'm guessing they don't want to hurry him back and risk a more serious re-injury. Hamstrings are tough to get 100% without taking off a lot of time, that same injury basically screwed up Beltran's season last year so I can understand where they are coming from.

Right now I'm just enjoying the ride...we got a 3-0 lead with Pedro on the mound today and currently the Mets have a 38-23 record! I was too young to enjoy 86, but you can bet your ass I'm enjoying it this year!

3. And El Duque threw a three hitter. I was talking to another Met fan...
yesterday and we noted how the Mets either stink out loud or are terrific. No .500 years for the Mets!

5. As a Braves fan
Allow me to tip my hats to you Mets fans. You guys have a lot to cheer about right now in the season.

I'm not joking. . I'm glad to see the Mets doing so well . . . I like to see the NL east spice up a bit . . .

As for my Braves well . . I haven't stopped watching them (Nor will I) but we've had 14 years on top of the N.L east (and only one W.S to show for it I know I know . . believe me I enjoyed the hell outta of that one though). So my hats to you all so far . . . and can't wait to see how the season ends.

8. Lupica's Tuesday column about the Metropolitans

I'm getting dizzy...

By the way, I became a Mets fan from living in Norfolk, so I knew Mook, Kevin Mitchell, Backman, Brooks, etc. as Sweet Young Things. Mookie later followed me to Toronto. That was cool.

11. And, of course, Omar Minaya
Its amazing the impact that the front office has on a team. I love our Latino team. David Wright better learn to like cuban coffee!

12. lol no doubt...
This is the best team chemistry I've seen in baseball in quite a while...the 1996 Yankees come to mind when I think about a team where everybody had a role in the winning and on any given day someone would step up with a good game. The 86 Mets were a great team but I feel that they were partying too much and relying on raw talent too much...it was only a matter of time before they would bottom out case and point, what happened to Doc and Strawberry in the next few years. This team on the other hand, I feel has some staying power with the nucleus of Wright, Reyes and Millage

13. I've always loved El Duque. Imagine Pedro and him in the same room!
Pedro's a diva and so's El Duque.

But Pedro's smart enough to know he can't do it alone.

wouldn't miss it for anything. Their spoiling their fans by putting up runs in the first inning of every game.
