There is Mariano and then there is no other.
Let's hear it for the greatest closer ever!

My favorite Mo moment was in the 1999 World Series. In game 4 he broke Ryan Klesko's bat...twice. He broke about 10 bats in the Series with his vicious cutter. He was so dominating that they showed Chipper Jones in the opposite dugout just laughing. It seems much like the Braves bats, Mariano had broken their minds.

So let's hear your story about every Yankee fan's favorite Panamanian.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Hmmmm, my favorite Rivera moment? Well, him giving up a RBI single to Mueller in game four of the the 2004 ALCS was pretty cool. It put the game into extra innings and then Big Papi jacked one for two runs to win it in the 12th, thus beginning the best comeback in sports history. So yeah, that's right up there in my favorite Rivera moments. :P

Sorry, I'll stop stinking up your Yankees thread now. He's a hell of a pitcher, I'll give you that much. :hi:

2. Personally, I liked Rivera giving up a hit to Luis Gonzalez
in the 2001 WS, one of the best ever. Eckersley, the best closer ever. Yeah, I am aware of the Kirk Gibson moment against him, but he was still the best ever.

3. you mean
the broken bat bloop?

no one has dominated the closer spot longer or as well as Mo. he is lights out. crunch time comes, the "enter the sandman" music starts, the crowd roars. and Mo gets another save.

4. A broken bat bloop with the infield in vs. a virtual cripple crushing a HR

One, the end of a fantastically battled Series in the 7th game,

The other, a emotionally crippling loss that lead to an embarrassing Series loss for a heavily favored team.

I could go on...;-)

6. 2003 ALCS, Game 7
Rivera went three innings (unheard of for Mo), and then Aaron Boone stepped up and homered, and Rivera ran to the mound, collapsed on it, and just laughed -- all of this before Boone so much as rounded second base.
