Thought it was pretty damned good. Mr. White is always entertaining.

I also thought 'Playmakers' was a good show.

2. My wife used to make fun of me for watching "Playmakers"...
She said it wasn't anything more than a soap opera for men.

Looking back, she was right.

Didn't see "Tilt" yet, though. Is it any different, or is it in the same vein?

3. Different
Same quality, but the premise is so overwhelmingly different. 'Playmakers' was about an older RB at the end of his career. 'Tilt' is about an up-and-comer looking to take down a big-time player. It is well done.

7. Have you watched any of those poker world series tournaments?
It's pretty interesting. Texas Hold 'Em is a helluva game.

15. Sorry Will
but I'd rather go outside and watch the grass grow. Watching people play cards is like watching people fishing.

17. nice
best of luck.

And word to the wise: never move. It takes a while to find a new game. And to someone as obsessed as me, it can be interminable.

9. Much better than I thought
I thought it would be a poker reality show type thing, but it turned out to be more of a 'Las Vegas' type show. I hate all the poker tournaments on tv, but this wasn't too bad. I really liked Playmakers too, and was pissed when they took it off the air.

12. I heard the same, too bad some indy. media couldn't pick it up
After all, Family Guy is having a resurgence, and Comedy Central is doing very with Daily Show and Dave Chappelle (too bad they won't bring back That's My Bush). Playmakers just seemed to be one of those shows that people watched whether they liked or hated, and it's a shame ESPN chickened out.

14. I thought it was terrible

But then again, it will probably be good for poker because there will be yet another wave of idiots who think that reraising a 40xBB raise in front of you with deuces is a +EV move, unless the guy down the table is engaging in collusion.

I think the worst scene was when the two black guys got in the fight about string betting and both of them immediately pulled out their "pieces". But then again, everyone knows all black people resolve all of their differences with guns, right? :eyes:

16. Well

as a poker addict and student of the game I was highly skeptical. Which is to say I thought it would suck. The thing that surprised me the most about it was that it was ok. I didn't vomit, and I didn't love it. But it was entertaining, while at the same time being highly cheesy. I really like the way they did the casino. Very realistic.

Note: my one beef was that they handled the poker awfully. For one thing, they would show each players hands, but the board would only flash for a fraction of a second. So it was hard to figure out what people actually had. Also, that hand w/ the brit was kinda wierd. If the brit was any good, why was he in the hand until the river with a pair of 6's.... what was he on, a set draw? Also, our hero chased an inside straight draw to the river. Doesn't seem much like something a half decent player would do.

19. I'm Amazed That No Other Network Picked Up Playmakers
It was ESPN's highest rated show outside of football. The NFL forced them to take the show off of the air.
