1. I was rooting for Henin -Hardienne |

but you have to hand it to Maria. She was determined throughout this Open.

Normally I'm not a Justine fan but I'm less of a Maria fan. I find her so phony.
I wondered last night what kind of a visa she has. They said she has homes in FL and CA. Isn't she taking a job (US OPEN Champ) from an American and should be deported? ;)

I still think she is very overrated. She still has not beat any of the great women's tennis players to win a grand slam. She beat Venus to win Wimbeldon, but that year Venus was hurt and the next year Venus completely distroyed Sharapova at Wimbeldon. This year at the U.S. Open Sharapova did not have to go up against either Williams sister. If Venus had been healthy enough to play Sharapova would not have won.

4. Two time Grand Slam champ a fluke? |
|
She beat Henin-Hardenne who's rated number two in the world and the reigning French Open champ. The Williams sisters aren't even in the top ten now.

5. She beat Serena, not Venus, at Wimbledon 2004 |
|
And Serena was more than a 4/1 favorite. She was not hurt.
I wouldn't say Sharapova got completely destroyed by Venus in 2005. I think it was one break in each set.
I agree Maria's game is somewhat one dimensional with the power and not much finesse, but she is a top player at 19 and if you look at the ages of the other highly ranked women players it looks excellent for Maria in the next 6 or 7 years.
