Question about 1970's marathoner Frank Shorter: |
|
Seems to us that Frank Shorter dabbled in painting once upon a time...
Are we out of our minds or is that true?
Thanks for any insight y'all can lay on us!

1. I don't recall ever hearing that, but that was a long time ago |

I used to read a lot of articles about him in Runner's World, etc. My memory could be failing me.
On a personal note, Frank Shorter was a really nice guy. I had been in several road races with him back in the 70's, and he always spent time talking with people after the race. He would always be patiently giving autographs and training advice to anyone who wanted them.

Budweiser commissioned some of the more famous Olympians to create art for a series they released in 1980 or '81.
We happened upon one of his numbered and signed prints from this series ($4 at Goodwill!) and it's pretty cool :hippie:
My mom was a hard-core runner back in the '70s too and idolized Frank - good to know that he was a nice guy.
