The Refs Gave My Beloved Packers A Fuckin' Tonight, And
The only penalties called against Seattle in the second half were an intentional delay of game and a penalty at the end that didn't even matter! They need to be full-time. A few years back they whined like a sonofabitch, got paid gazzilions of dollars, they make the ultimate decisions in a game, . . . ah, fuck it.

1. I think
you would be better off looking a little deeper why they lost. The game was handed to them and they still couldn't win.
You sound just like all my packer friends whining about how bad the officials were to your team. I thought the packers had a lucky horseshoe up their ass most of the game.

2. Everybody's Talking About The BS "Roughing The Passer" Call, Not Just
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 09:41 AM by Dinger
Packer fans.

Personally, I like it when the play on the field determines the outcome, not a judgement call by an official.

It probably would not have changed the fact that the Packers lost, but it affects the mindset of a team, just like momentum does in my opinion.

I LOVE my Packers, and each game is a season for me. They are definitely no a good team, and I'm thinking draft at this point. I'm hoping for a top 5 again.

4. The "play on the field determines the outcome"
You mean like allowing Shaun Alexander 211 yards?

5. Yeah, Like That, Sort Of
But that was a series of plays. I was thinking more on an individual (play) basis.
Our running game and run defense sucks, botched calls won't change that fact.
On that particular call, which many agree was wrong, it DID affect outcome of THAT play, not what actually happened. Alexander's 211 yards (kudos to him) didn't have much to do with that call, which did fuck over my beloved Packers.

8. Interesting Info On Corrente
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 03:42 PM by Dinger
The book on Corrente

The Seahawks were nice enough to make available the flip card for their game against the Packers on Monday night (we found it here). The card shows Tony Corrente as the referee scheduled to work this game. That is unofficial at this point, but assuming that holds for Monday night, here is some background: The Seahawks have a 9-1 record under Mike Holmgren when Corrente serves as referee. Holmgren was 0-2 in replay challenges in those games; opposing coaches were 0-3. Corrente's crew has assessed 51 penalties against Seattle in those games, compared to 78 against the opponents. Corrente officiated the only Seahawks game under Holmgren in which zero penalties were assessed against Seattle; that game was a 29-3 victory over Dallas at Husky Stadium in December 2001.

This season, NFL coaches have challenged Corrente eight times, winning once. Corrente is the only referee this season who has not been challenged by the replay official in the final two minutes of a half. Corrente has assessed 11.7 penalties per game this season, slightly below the league average. More info here.

Corrente worked the Chicago-Green Bay game in Week One. Packers coach Mike McCarthy was 0-1 in replay challenges that day. Corrente assessed four penalties against the Bears (25 yards) and five against the Packers (45 yards).

The call RTP was wrong and the officials should have confered this call as it WAS a game changer. The PACK might not have scored with the ball but field position would have changed IMO.

9. I agree that the "roughing the passer" call was terrible.
But I think that from Corrente's perspective, in realtime speed, it APPEARED that Hasselbeck got struck in the head. That's what he saw, so he threw the flag, and it's not reviewable. Yes, it was a mistake. Bad calls happen.

3. That was a bad call...but I've seen the Pack on the happy end of bad calls too
Especially in Lambeau "Don't Touch Brett" Field.

It's karma, man.

10. Yea, just like the refs gave the Seahawks a fuckin' in the Super Bowl.
Even as a Hawks fan, the Cheese Heads did get dissed on that total b.s roughing the passer call. Shawn may have won it for Seattle anyway, but that did keep a key drive going.

I just don't understand why bad refs are allowed to keep their jobs???
