Boxing: 50 Years Ago Today ....
On November 30, 1956, in Chicago, Floyd Patterson knocked Archie Moore out in 5 rounds to become the youngest Heavyweight Champion.

He would go on a tour of exhibitions in '57 against Julio Mederos (X3) and Alvin Williams (X2) before defending against Tommy "Hurricane" Jackson and novice Pete Rademacher; then exhibitions with Dusty Rhodes (X3) before his lone fight against Roy Harris in '58.

Cus D'Amato didn't want Floyd to fight the top contenders of the day. After he separated from Cus, Floyd would lose, win, and lose the title, then lose three more title shots. But he proved he was capable of fighting with the best guys his size.

RIP, Champ.
