How can I keep watching the Phillies? |
|
The Phillies have been my team since I was about 6. They haven't given me much to cheer about, but I've had some good times watching them. And despite their failure to make the playoffs, I'm excited every year to root for my Phils.
But for the love of God HOW THE FUCK CAN I KEEP WATCHING THEM? First it was the bullpen letting the starters down. Now Myers is fucking up, Moyer is fucking up, Eaton was the last one to pitch a good game.
Tonight was practically unbearable. Get off to a great start, appear to be cruising to victory, and then comes Carlos Lee. But despite his dominance, the Phillies had PLENTY of chances to tie it or even pull ahead. And they didn't do it. They just wasted more and more opportunities.
I realize it's still very early, but the last 2 years have ended with them saying "If only we had gotten off to a good start." This year, we seem to be going down that same road again. It's incredibly frustrating.
Ok I'm done. Just needed to blow off some steam.

We keep coming back for more. I'm still in therapy after the 64 season. And what's really gonna hurt is if they fire up the rest of the season and miss the playoffs by a game or two. Sports Illustrated said the key to the Phillies success was performance in April. They are killing me earlier then usual.

He's a nice, decent man. He is not a top manager.

3. I'm not crazy about Gillick either. |

Wes Helms is proving to be a less effective hitter than Nunez, Barajas isn't amounting to much, and the bullpen...well you know. He really hasn't made many good moves so far.

I can say that as a lifelong Cubs fan. The Phillies have a good lineup and will be all right. And now Garcia is back, and while not a no.1 type starter, he should add some consistency to the staff. They do need to catch the ball though.

Myers a set-up guy? This move reeks of desperation.
I am reminded that the Yankees were 11-19 last season (it was last season, yes?), and still won almost 100 games. But the Phillies ain't the Yankees.
Sigh.
