Roger Federer has mononucleosis...
...boy, did I probably spell that wrong, and for religious reasons, I can't use the spell checker.

Explains a lot about his play this year.

1. Will he be better for the French?
You're right. He hasn't been playing all that well so far this year.

I hope he recovers quickly.

2. Apparently he found this out after the Australian...that he had it during
that time but only thought he was sick...not sure about the French...thought that might be his year since nadal is struggling. I gather that after mono it takes a while to recover even after it's out of your system.

3. He's arguably the best tennis player that ever lived
But isn't mononucleosis a mild disease? correct me if I'm wrong.

4. Welcome! It can knock you out of commission for up to 2 years
depending on how serious it is...can't see any player being able to rebound after losing that much time. His isn't as serious, but he needs to break Sampras' record of Slams for him to cement his reputation.

5. it would be very odd
for an adult to get a case that severe, the worse ones are usually among adolescents (I know I was out of commission for 6 weeks with it as a teenager)

6. I wish I could find that article I saw about this...a couple athletes
had gotten severe cases and I can't recall their ages.

7. Kicked my ass for six weeks too.
I know an adult who got it and it lasted for months. I was ready to blow my brains out after just six weeks. I don't know he did it.
