Terrelle Pryor picks Ohio State |
|
PITTSBURGH - Highly regarded prep quarterback Terrelle Pryor is headed to Ohio State.
The two-sports star announced his decision Wednesday at Jeannette High School, about 25 miles east of Pittsburgh, where he had one of the greatest prep careers in Pennsylvania history.
Flanked by his parents, brother, sister and other supporters, the 6-foot-6 Pryor wasted no time with his decision: "If everyone's here," he said, "University of Ohio State."
He then unzipped his windbreaker to reveal an Ohio State T-shirt and donned an OSU hat.
Pryor picked Ohio State over Michigan, Penn State and Oregon.
Pryor said Oregon was too far away and Penn State too rural. He said he liked Michigan and new coach Rich Rodriguez, but felt that he has a better shot at making it to the NFL by going to Ohio State.
Pryor is the only Pennsylvania player to both rush and pass for at least 4,000 yards in football. He also scored 2,285 points in basketball. For now, Pryor said he does not plan to play basketball in college.

Because there are NO high profile QBs from Michigan in the NFL while OSU quarterbacks abound...isn't that right? Oops, no it isn't. I guess he isn't smart enough to attend Michigan if he didn't figure that out. That and saying "University of Ohio State."

3. I can't imagine Tressel using the spread |
|
Pryor looks like a spread QB to me but perhaps that's simplistic, based on his similar frame to Vince Young.
Maybe the kid wanted a more standard offense, to take less hits and develop toward the pro game.
Rodriguez is already 0-1 against OSU.

he wants pro-style spread and scramble? He should have hit Michigan or Oregon, frankly. Can you imagine him in the ducks' offense? With a line, backs and receivers already picked to run those plays? Look at the numbers dennis dixon put up, and imagine a guy like Pryor. Hello, terrell? This is the downtown athletic club calling, don't make plans the first weekend in December, 2010, ok?

12. I thought he was perfect for Michigan |
|
Once Rodriguez took the job. Stay in the midwest, a school known for pro QBs, and Rodriquez' version of the spread is as sophisticated as it gets. Oklahoma couldn't stop one possession in the 4th quarter, admittedly after Rodriguez was gone but still his players and schemes.
I saw Pryor in that Army All Star game in January. Definite similarities to VY but he looked stronger and less lanky, even at 6-6. He generally toyed with the top recruits in the country.

8. Maybe he's talented.... |
|
but I hope against all hope that he isn't a high-maintenance primadonna who won't live up to the hype. Judging from how he strung out the recruiting process, I'm worried.

11. Guess he's looking to be embarrassed in the BCS Championship |
|
OSU didn't belong there last year, they've been humiliated the last 2 years. Just the name OSU conjures up memories of boredom. I could care less about this kid and the Buckeyes.

Eh, I knew that prima donna would choose OSU anyhow. I could tell by the way he was acting.
