Grandmother of New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady Dies at 94 in the San Francisco Area

<snip>

"The grandmother of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has died at the age of 94 in the San Francisco area.
Margaret Brady died Wednesday night, Patriots spokesman Stacey James said Thursday. She had a stroke earlier in the week, James said.

"When you lose people who are close in your life, you deal with it the best you can," Brady said during a Super Bowl news conference. "Hopefully, I can live to be a 94-year-old person and live a full life like she did.

"I'm sure she'll be looking down on us Sunday. That's one more person up there who will be cheering for us."

Brady said he didn't think his grandmother's death would be a distraction heading into Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles."

2. Wow! That's A Shame
Man, this seems to happen a lot. The relative of some player dies just before the big game. I know there is some probability of that, but without actually doing the math, it would seem pretty small, given that most of the players are pretty young. (Most 35 year olds only have grandparents in their 60's, or less.)

Just seems like a recurring theme.

Condolences to the Brady family are, indeed, in order.
The Professor
