NO!!!!!!!!

I am looking forward to a Pittsburgh/Philly series, though. I love backyard brawls!

2. Ya got that right, girl!!!
Being a long, long, longtime Flyers fan, there was nothing like the Broad Street Bullies.

3. Yeah, the Red Wings' so-called rivals folded up their tents
and elected not to show up for Round 2.

7. It looks like you're going to get your wish LisaM.
FIGHT!! FIGHT!! FIGHT!!

It'll be one hell of a series, that's for sure.

5. As much as I dislike the Flyers, I hate Montreal far more.
I hope the Flyers end it tonight. :)

8. What an amazing turnaround from last year.
And they're playing like a team, not just one or two stars carrying a team. And any team that knocks off the Habs can't be all bad. :)

You guys must be psyched. At this point the team has to feel they can beat anyone they end up playing.

9. Agree with everything you said.
Even with some of the moves we made in the offseason, I figured it'd be tough for us to make it this far, but they've really come alive since the start of the playoffs. The Penguins have just beaten the Rangers, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do against them! HATE those guys.

You're a Bruins fan I take it?

11. Yup, a Bruins fan from way back.
Hell, Orr is still my hero. :)

A think a Penguins/Flyers match up is perfect for hockey. Two blue collar cities representing a blue collar sport. Got to love it.

Even as a Bruins fan it was a great second round for me. I hate both the Rangers and the Habs, so I'm happy. :D

10. We are psyched Forkboy.
Thanks for the kudos, too. My daughter just bought a home theatre system and the game last night sounded fantastic.

I have to say, the fans singing for their team even after losing the series, really impressed me.

12. Now you got the Penguins, making it an all Pennsylvania conference final.
Like I said above, I think it's great to have two blue collar cities representing the NHL, a blue collar sport. To think the Penguins were almost gone just a couple years ago. Should be a good battle between the two teams.

13. Hats off to the PA teams
Tough to watch the season end today, I thought NY was going to pull off the comeback, but it was not to be. In the end, better team prevailed...

...and I can't believe I would ever say this, but go Flyers!

15. I'm a big Flyers fan, and I was pulling for the Rangers over the Pens.
I was amazed to hear myself say "YES!" when they tied Game 5 ;-)

17. Isn't it funny how we always root for the team that beat your
favorite in the playoffs? Last year during the playoffs when the Rockies beat the Phils, I rooted for the D'Backs, then the Red Sox. I was actually horrified at myself for rooting for an American league team.

18. You're right, it is funny
For some reason it just feels good to see them "avenged", although it doesnt really matter, because it won't bring your team back.

The first time I noticed this was in 1995 when NYR lost to Philly in the 2nd round (...what is it with the Rangers and the PA teams?*) and found myself rooting for the NJ Devils.

* - NY's season was brought to an end by a team from PA in every postseason except for 5 (1990,1991, 1994,2006,2007) since 1987 (data from Yahoo! Sports):

2008 -- lost to Pittsburgh, 4-1, Eastern Conf. semifinals
2007 -- lost to Buffalo, 4-2, Eastern Conference semifinals
2006 -- lost to New Jersey, 4-0, Eastern Conf. quarterfinals
1998-2005 - no need to talk about this time period :(
1997 -- lost to Philadelphia, 4-1, Eastern Conf. finals
1996 -- lost to Pittsburgh, 4-1, Eastern Conf. semifinals
1995 -- lost to Philadelphia, 4-0, Eastern Conf. semifinals
1994 -- defeated Vancouver, 4-3, Stanley Cup Finals
1993 -- missed playoffs
1992 -- lost to Pittsburgh, 4-2, Patrick Division finals
1991 -- lost to Washington, 4-2, Patrick Division semifinals
1990 -- lost to Washington, 4-1, Patrick Division finals
1989 -- lost to Pittsburgh, 4-0, Patrick Division semifinals
1988 -- missed playoffs
1987 -- lost to Philadelphia, 4-2, Patrick Division semifinals

14. I think I'll pass,
LET'S GO PENS, LET'S GO PENS, LETS GO PENS,

However, I do live in the Philly area and have watched the Flyers all season.

This has the making of a classic series.

Good luck,

16. LETS GO PENS!!! LETS GO PENS!!! LETS GO PENS!!!
This is gonna be an awesome series. Finally an Eastern Conference Final that's worth it's salt. Just think last year the Flyers were the worst team in hockey, the year before that the Pens were second worst. Now they're the best teams in the conference.

Eat that everyone outside PA!

Oh and RJ Umberger is from Pittsburgh so all his goals should count towards the Penguins. >.>

19. Flyers lose top D-man,
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/20080508_Timonen_out_for_playoffs_with_blood_clot.html

I like timonen. He's the core of the D and an all around good player. Hope he gets better soon. I'd much rather dispose of the Flyers with all of their players at top form.
