I think this takes "spoiled" to a whole new level.

1. There was a lot more booing than that
If you suck, you deserve to be booed. I'm sure the Phins never get booed, though right?

2. It's sports..."What have you done for me lately" rules the day.
As it should.

What good did all those wins do them today? None at all, so why think about them still? The Pats themselves always (and I mean ALWAYS) preach about there being no bigger game than the next one. They never talk about all those wins...why should we? They deserved to be booed for how they played today .

If the roles were reversed you'd be doing it to. It's just been so long since Miami has strung some wins together that you'll settle for anything. :P

3. One boos in disappointment
It's not everyday that a team riding a 21 game winning streak loses to a team who has won one game in a year and a half.

4. Actually, thanks for pointing out the home winning streak
The early '70s Dolphins still hold that record, and this result makes it safer.

7. Tampa fans don't even fucking show up for the best team they've ever had.
The Pats sell out every game.

Get back to me when that situation reverses. :P

and help the Rays sell more tickets.

Better?

13. Sentinel brought up Tampa, not me.
If the standard of good fans means always supporting their team (the topic of your OP, if you remember), then Tampa fans suck royal ass.

Talk to Sentinel.

14. OK so lets look at the figures.
Edited on Tue Sep-23-08 06:57 AM by Sentinel Chicken
Average Attendance (From ESPN)
Boston: 37,641
Tampa: 22,259
Statically Boston draws 1.69 fans for every 1 fan Tampa draws

Population figures (area)(From Wikipedia)
Boston: 7.4 million
Tampa: 4 million
Statically Boston has 1.85 fans for every 1 fan Tampa has

Median Income (From Wikipedia)
Boston: $48,315.00
Tampa: $39,602.00

So despite the disparity in median income and size of the fan base Tampa is drawing more fans per capita then the Red Sox.

On Edit: The Rays magic number is 4

17. It depends where you look for population, then.
Edited on Tue Sep-23-08 10:19 AM by hughee99
According to the city pages for Boston and Tampa in Wikipedia, Boston's urban population is 4.3 mil and the "metro" population is 5.9 million. Tampa's urban population is 2.8 million and the "metro" population is 4 million. Based on this (metro size), Boston has 1.48 fans for every 1 Tampa fan, but they draw 1.69 fans for every fan Tampa draws.

Also, while the median income in Boston is about 20% higher, the price of tickets in Boston is almost 3 times as much as Tampa. The average ticket price in Boston is $48 (highest in MLB by $6), while in Tampa it's $17 (3rd lowest). In fact, standing room tickets in Boston are $20, more than Tampa's average price, though there are a very small number of seats at $12.

Congrats to Tampa, they're having a great season, though. See you in the playoffs :)

25. Eh, we're both in now.
Good luck in the playoffs. Tampa has been the best story of the year in MLB, and I hope they do some damage...unless it's against the Sox, naturally. (And to be honest, even then I won't mind seeing Tampa win....got to love the underdogs!)
