Cubs Fans Stop It
You want your team to lose and you know it. You all have posed as the loveable cute little loser fans for years and you want it to remain that way. There is nothing loveable or cute about you or your team and there hasn't been for a hundred years. The Cubs losing is the only thing ya got going. So stop pretending you want the loveable lil cubbies to win. If they lose you can keep acting like the poor little martyrs that you are not.

1. I'll tell you one thing, I'm pulling for the Phillies against LA now.
Let's hope they don't let me down like the laughable Cubs, BOSS.

2. Your miserable team has one exactly one less World Series
title than the Cubs and has the most losses of any team, ever. A little projecting going on?

3. Husker, in all seriousness, how can you even show your
face after such a humiliating display?

A sweep?

You have nothing to look forward to next year because even if the Cubs run away with the division again and win as many games, they're right back in the same position of choking.

It's disgraceful. Come on.

5. In all seriousness, sports are entertainment!
I love baseball and my fave team is the Cubs. They lost to a better team in the Dodgers, a better team in the D-backs last year and a MUCH better team in the Marlins a few years ago. (Beckett, Miggy C, DLee a marlin, Pudge etc)

It is simply interesting all of the schadenfued (sp?) that goes on regarding the Cubs. People celebrate when the lose! It was wrong when people celebrated the Patriots losing and it is always wrong to celebrate somebody else's misery.

And to Boss, I hope you enjoy making shit of the Cubs. I would never say anything bad about anybody else's team unless it is a situation like this thread. Your team sucks worse than the Cubs, remember that. Less championships, less pennants and WAY more losses. Still will be rooting for the Phils cuz they are my fave team alive despite your assholery on this issue. (and I know you are a good guy in general, just wrong in this thread IMO.)

18. Speaking of showing your face...
Niners...*snerk*

Smoosh.

Our terrible awful helpless hopeless calamity of a backup QB looked like Joe Montana compared to your guy.

Cassel wears #16, too.

It burns. I know.

:P

22. I guess that what happens when your awful hopeless
calamity of a backup QB plays an awful hopeless calamity of a football team.

Know what I'm sayin?

4. Phils fans don't pretend to be cute and cuddly
We're not biffy and buffy going to the big game after a cocktail on sorority row and giggle about how cute our loser team is.

8. Phil's fans are certainly the exact opposite of Cubs fans.
They do things like boo a little kid for missing a catch in the stands (did it again this week). They even booed Santa Claus.

10. Well start a thread telling us to stop booing Santa Claus
(an incident which occurred 40 years ago.) If Cubs fans and Philly fans were extremes on a meter, I'd certainly rather be screaming and shouting in Philly then drinking Lattes (and secretly hoping my team didn't do good so I could continue to pretend to be cute and cuddly.)

Dubya is a former owner of the Texas Rangers and absolutely NOT a Phillies fan. The Phanatic was just being a good host.

13. Lipstick on a BOSSHOG?
Clearly you've never been to the bleachers at Wrigley... or the Cubby Bear, or the Billy Goat. Lattes? Please. Of course, you may prefer the White Sox and their wonderful fans who attack umpires on the field... but seeing as you're a Philly fan, perhaps the on-site jail at Lincoln Financial is more your setting.

Oh, and by the way, you are aware that the Cubs have won two world series to the Phillies one? How about ten NL titles to the Phillies five? How about the first team to reach 10k wins versus the team with the most losses in MLB history? Indeed, the Cubs did choke yet again this year, but historically speaking... well, those who live in glass houses, Bosspalin...

How many National League championships? I'll take the present over the past any day of the week.

15. Of course, but...
The OP was the one to invoke the "100 year" bit.

FWIW, I'm not taking an opportunity here to rip on Philly indiscriminately. Hell, I live 20 min. from there now (see post #9).

I've been to Citizens Bank Park and am pulling for the Phils now that the Cubs are out, but that doesn't mean I should feel compelled to ignore trash like this thread. I'm a Cub fan and I don't drink lattes.

Oh, and I HAVE witnessed a Bears Superbowl win. B-)

20. Point taken, I can see how it bothered you.
I'm glad to have you on board with the Phils! CBP is great, but I'd love to see Wrigley one of these days too.

You also probably witnessed 6 titles in 8 years for the Chicago Bulls. That kinda makes up for the Cubs 100 year drought ;)

9. Hey BOSS - what's up, babe?
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 01:25 PM by JerseyGirlDem
Why are ya hatin' on the Cubs fans? Am I missing something here?

My boyfriend was born and raised in Chicago - been a Cubs fan for all his 45 years. He moved here to South Jersey this past year to be with me, so you can only imagine the excitement in my house when both the Cubs and the Phils made it to the playoffs. My boyfriend was rooting for the Phils when they were duking it out for first place with the Mets, and I cheered on the Cubs as they very quickly proved themselves to be the team to beat. Having said that, we also knew that this placed both our teams into a situation where we could be playing each other for the World Series spot.

I think that at that point, we both just came to the conclusion that they're both great teams - so may the best team win.

So my boyfriend and I watched, in complete shock, as the Cubs fell apart right before our very eyes. We didn't even recognize them. My boyfriend is devastated, as is his mother - who is 82 years old and was hoping that this was their year. Now even SHE may never see it happen in her lifetime. I can't imagine being 82 years old and never seeing my favorite team win a championship. Even though I'm a die-hard Phillies fan, if the Cubs had beaten us in the playoffs, I would have handled losing to a fantastic team who has been waiting for this moment for a freaking CENTURY.

Having said that....as devastated as my boyfriend is, he's watching the Phillies/Brewers game with me right now, and he will continue to support the Phillies with me - which, btw, they're looking like they may bag this series today. <<<<fingers crossed>>>>

Help me out here, BOSS - I'm not understanding what appears to be outright contempt for Cubs fans in your posts. If I have contempt for anything Cubs-related, it's the organization - not the fans.

6. Coming from a die hard Cub fan
I am going to say that your post is complete total bullshit. I am stunned and incensed at the collapse and ask for no sympathy from you or anyone else. To lump all fans together is just a bunch of shit. I want them to win it all in 2009 and build a dynasty similar to the Red Sox juggernaut is now. I want the Cubs to be hated like the Red Sox and Yankees are now, because they are always good and on national tv every three days or so. So once again, don't stereotype all Cub fans. It makes you look bad.

25. As I posted in another thread yesterday, Lou Piniella is a jerk.
he made a comment to a woman reporter that I will never forgive (he called her "young lady" and asked her what SHE knew about the pitch count). Loveable team, jerk coach. I still remember that confrontation he had with Rob Dibble in the locker room, too. I hate when people in pro sports say things like, "be a MAN!" Geeze, why don't you exit the cave and grab your wife by the hair while you're at it? I'm not defending Rob Dibble, but I can't stand Piniella.
