1. He's been blowing calls all his career
It'd take a playoff gaffe for him to be fired.

2. Have you seen his biceps?
I think he should referee every game. In short sleeves.

3. Same reason Bush** still has his
(Gee Dubya that is, not Reggie :-) ) Sheer inertia.

He'll keep his job right up until he blows a call that hurts one of the media darlings such as the Dallas Cowpies. Then the wrath and fury of the league will come down on him so fast he won't know what hit him. :eyes:

7. To be fair, the non-call on the facemask wasn't his responsibility.
Head ump takes up position behind the QB. He's not going to see a facemask grab on a runner facing the other direction. Facemasks, holding, pass interference, TONS of those are missed in EVERY SINGLE GAME. Ed's just under the microscope now so every little thing is going to be held against him.

The Adrian Peterson non-fumble was one of those that he was screwed either way. The ball was still under control in his hand as his knee hit the ground, forcing his leg to jar the ball out. When in doubt, the call on the field stays.
