On MNF, Obama said college football needs a playoff. |
|
He would get my vote for that if I hadn't already voted for him.

1. No it doesn't. They've lengthened the season already. It's not the NFL. nt |

10. Why would it lengthen the season?? If you had an eight team playoff |
|
beginning the third weekend in December, you could finish up around New Years Day?
Works for me.

2. A four-team playoff, I think. |
|
That's all you really need. Get rid of the extra regular season game they added a couple of years ago, put the first round of games in Christmas week, and the National Championship where it is now. It can work.

3. I Think He Was Half-Kidding |
|
Because he did bring up that he would have his attorney general look into it and he knows enough about the constitution to know he can't do that.
So, i think it was a half-joke. The Professor

4. At least it was better |
|
than Mr. McCain wanting to get the federal government involved in managing professional sports via a steriods investigation. They have bigger fish to fry in DC than athletes putting chemicals in their bodies, willingly.........

While he was talking, all i could think was "Shut Upt" I mean, steroids are yesterday's news. They're testing and the cheaters will always outpace the "finders' by a little bit. But, the harder it gets to cheat the fewer there will be. So, we really just have to wait it out, and it will be such a small fraction, it really won't matter. Because anyone who really has "it" will realize they DON'T want to do it, otherwise their achivements will always be attributed to modern chemistry and not talent.
If i had thet level of skill, the last thing i'd want anyone to think is that it wasn't all me. The Professor

6. They had a guy on sports radio the other day commenting on it... |
|
He basically said (and I agree) that Obama would be able to bring peace to the middle east before he'd get the bowl committees to agree to this.

Because really, Div I-A isn't about a national champion. It's about a series of bowl games with sponsors, traveling fans, and lots of cash. A playoff system kills most of that.

8. I trust he'll make better decisions than this |
|
Dumbass idea. Just what we need all season, speculating who is going to be 8th and who will be 9th. Yawn.

9. Grrrr, I didn't hear about it till after I voted! |
|
Not that it would REALLY have changed my vote - that was sarcasm. But he is dead wrong on this and I hope to be able to explain it to him one day.
Anyone that would favor a system that creates only one winner and hundreds of losers over a system that leaves 28 schools happy at the end of the year, is, IMO, not being very inclusive.
